Had a few quid in my online betting account so on Friday stuck £2.50 on Rossi and £7.50 on Danny Kent. Both make nearly £20 a pop. Kent looking very good for it... Think this is probably Marquez's to lose (eyes on the start) but anything can happen and you can never rule The Doctor out! (despite him being all the way down in 8th I think??)

Have the bookies not caught on to Danny Kent yet?

Yup, it's even more annoying that really, it's **** all to do with Marquez, he should be riding his own race and letting everyone else crack on with theirs

  • Is it just me, or does anyone else chuckle every time Marc falls off trying to stick with Vale?

  • WOW!!! Absolutely amazing race, and a battle we've all waited to see for so long.   What a brilliant race and a fitting tribute to #39    Lovely to see Valentino and Marc shake hands at last.   I

I am not going to say the result but........

WHAT A RACE!!!!!

And a mate rang me with 7 laps to go, that was a very short conversation......

Stunning. Stunning. Stunning.

For those who have not seen it, make sure you do!

I haven't seen the races yet as out at a wedding but sheeeeeeeet.... What a shame I didn't combine my bets!!

Missed all 3 Moto races and the BSB/SBK package :(

And SWMBO skyped me for an hour during the F1GP :S

And the damn ITV4 stream failed so no BTCC either :swear:

And I've seen nearly all the results :@

Now that was some race there, I think Rossi is sharper at the moment than I've seen him in a long time. I bet Marquez will think for a second or two before regrouping for an attack next time.

I'm with Chriswright03 - what a race - :ninja:

And what a difference from last year. It was great to watch the Doctor reel the kid in and seeing Crutchlow get 3rd on the line just capped it off. Valet is still down to earth too, his comments about hoping Marc was ok after the race sums motogp up nicely.

Marquez has never had to learn to settle for second before.

Thats just cost him a lot of points.

Finishing first would have gained him 5 on Rossi

Second would have only lost 5

Crashing lost 25.

Rossi is now about 30 ahead of him.

Marquez a great on the edge rider but just burnt his tyres out.

Rossi totally brilliant.

Well done Keith Huwen with the commentary, bang on with the technical assessment.

The Yahama M1, the bike that is at least a relative of the R1 and not a prototype format not used on the road like the Honda and Ducati (ie across the frame 4), has addressed it weaknesses and is now superb (Lorenzo right not agree).

The seamless gearbox seems to be practicacal as good as the Honda masterpeice and the power also power up there wilth Ducati and Honda where it has not been for several seasons.  Add that to the Yam''s superior high speed cornering and Rossi could well take the 2015 MotoGP confirming hs status as the greatest motorcycle race of all time ie pipping Ago for that honour IMO.

Some good racing ahead and Rossi's abilitily to adapt and strategise are just the best thing to watch in Motorsport though also great to see such British dominance is WSB and well done to Karl, and Bradley and Scott in MotoGP, all great blokes.  Got a nice picture of Bradley with my boy at the bike show, true gentleman.

Nice to see Rossi's bike being properly competitive and Ducati going well. Marquez is sensational but Moto GP was getting too dull wth runaway victories from him, only spiced up with slipping down the field and fighting back. Crutchlow's blunt post-race thanks to his critics was interesting too.

Marquez has bullied his way to the front on many occasions.  Remember when he knocked the sensor of Danny Pedrosa's bike causing the traction control to fail and Danny falling off?  He has been a bit brutal passing others as well including Lorenzo who was less than impressed.  His problem on Sunday was Rossi will not be intimidated and can and has mixed it with the best.  His battles with rivals in the past is the stuff f legends.

Quality racing and it is what we want to be seeing rather than one rider clearing off from the others...............oh hang on though isn't that what Rossi used to do?

Another fantastic ride from Rossi particularly in comparison to Lorenzo who seemed unusually off the pace, I expected him to be quicker at the start and then to drop off but aside from that brief burst at the start he wasn't really in the race at all.  Marquez at times still seems to behave like a rookie with is all or nothing approach, he's obviously been quick enough to get away with it in the past but it was a particularly daft move this time given Rossi was clearly far faster than him, you only lose five points for a second place (vs 7 in the F1) and with any MotoGP crash there's a very real risk you sustain an injury which can mean a lot of points lost even just being out for a couple of races. On the plus side it keeps the championship very much alive, absolutely nothing against Marquez but it's not that interesting seeing him pretty much lead from start to finish while Rossi's wins tend to be part of a more entertaining race.

John

So what an intelligent ride fro Sam Lowes.  Knew he couldn't keep the second place so settled for third.  He could (should) have done that in the first race and he obviously has learnt a very hard lesson.  He has undoubted ability and is already a World Champion and if he keeps thinking like this there is a very good chance that he will be there in the end.

Been racking my brain as to who it was in the 500's some years ago that won the World Championship without hardly winning any of the races.  He did however score points in every round and was almost always on the rostrum in one of the steps.  Consistency is the key and if that means settling for a lower place on the day then so be it.  Marquez will no doubt be having that lesson drummed into by his team this week.  He is still young though and has an awesome talent but it seems this year that others are taking the battle to him (well Rossi at least) and he is looking a little ruffled.

Difficult to compare eras - Ago had less competition but he raced the IOM, and still has the most total wins.

However Rossi is streets ahead of anybody on top-class (500/MotoGP) wins.

I think one of them is the GOAT but I can't say which.

No one mentioned Freddy Spencer and he won 250 and 500 in the same year.  OK he didn't win much else after that but an achievement nonetheless.  Wonder if anyone would be brave enough to try it these days.  As I recall Honda had the race schedule changed so one didn't follow the other one straight away.

As for the GOAT I think it is Rossi as the standard of the other riders and their machines is far closer now than in the days of Hailwood Ago and the like.  I don't recall hearing about the top 16 or so riders in those days being within a second of each other.

...and it was his own over-agressive riding that caused it.

I thought he should have been reined in a while ago with penalties in Moto2 - especially after one particularly nasty move running Pol off the road in a braking zone at the end of a long straight.

Silverstone 2013 he was let off crashing in a yellow flag zone during practice despite pretty much throwing his bike straight at marshals assisting the crashed rider who caused the yellow. If I'd been clerk of the course, he'd have been sitting the rest of that weekend out.

I did LOL at his rage when he caught up with the bike -

but if he keeps this up he, or more likely someone else, will end up on 4 wheels sat next to Wayne Rainey in the pit lane hospitality.

And that's exactly why I'd park anyone who crashes under yellows during practice (I don't mean qualifying there; they have nothing to gain in practice by observing the rule "when in a Yellow Flag zone slow down, and be prepared to stop").

I totally agree with that, I was at the BSB round at Brands at the weekend and there was a really nasty supersport crash on lap 1 along from Graham Hill on the straight where two riders received real bad head injuries in the crash. There were marshals and doctors on track and marshals on the edge of the previous corner waving like crazy yellow flags, and still 6 bikes nearly ran into them all.

If you can't abide by some basic safety rules on track for your own well being, then park it up, have a think and come back next time.

OK it all starts again today!!!!!

Looking on the MCN website I see Danny Pedrosa will not he at his home GP ad Marquez has broken a little finger in training but will ride.  Makes me wonder what will happen to Danny if he doesn't return PDQ.  Honda undoubtedly will be looking for a replacement already just in case could it be Cal?

Anyway the practice is on in 30 minutes so I will record it and have a butchers when I come back from work.  Looks like another exciting weekend ahead.

Big News - Lin Jarvis is denying Jorge is off to Ducati next year.

Well they said on the show that he had signed with Yamaha today for 2016.
