Yup, it's even more annoying that really, it's **** all to do with Marquez, he should be riding his own race and letting everyone else crack on with theirs

  • Is it just me, or does anyone else chuckle every time Marc falls off trying to stick with Vale?

  • WOW!!! Absolutely amazing race, and a battle we've all waited to see for so long.   What a brilliant race and a fitting tribute to #39    Lovely to see Valentino and Marc shake hands at last.   I

I've set the ITV highlight show on my SKY box :) The race sounds stunning from what I have read so far

I'm going to have to bite the bullet and sort out BT sport or membership on the website for next season, I hate missing out.

I just get a live stream off the internet. Granted it's not HD quality, but it beats paying purely for BT Sport...

Oh? Where from? I can cope with non HD

It seems Marquez has adopted the Casey reaction to losing battles to Rossi - cry and bitch about it.

Stoner never forgot losing Laguna Seca.

Rossi has got under Marquez' skin in the same way.

Funny really given the way Marquez rides, and how many riders he's bullied off the track over the years.

So why would they log on to a thread on the very subject they don't want to know the result of? If they are that stupid then they probably can't read so what's the problem?

I cleared my inbox out, not sure if it was full or something

Because they don't print the result for a few days, so can discuss other things like qualifying and latest bike info.

Spot on there Camel.  As you say Marquez isn't exactly squeeky clean as Pedrosa will no doubt testify.  He needs to remember that Rossi has punted a fair few of himself to win over the years and ain't scared of a battle.  Also Marquez could have put them both down and if he is allowed to carry on like that without sanction he will injure someone one day and possibly out an end to the career/life.  To my mind Marco Simonchelli was no worse than Marquez is now and look at the fuss that was created about his riding.

Eh??? More or less as soon as they cross the line the results are on websites across the globe. And why would you want to discuss qualifying after the race has finished??? If you don't want to know the result don't log on.

I think in general we tend to discuss more generalises stuff for a couple of days before the winners are spoken of.  So for that reason we feel able to come in here for a look in the hope that the spoilers are not posted.

I take your point and yesterday as I was out most of the day didn't have chance to slob on the sofa all day watching every second I purposely didn't log into this thread just in case.  But if you look through the thread you may well see that there is a little time given before the results are posted.  Nothing to get hung up about nor argue about really though.

Of those you cite, Marquez is the only one I can think of who has fired his bike at a crashed rider and marshals under double waved yellows. That, rather than an odd "wet and dry paper" pass is why I'd not want to share a track with him.

Was that at Cal Crutchlow Ken?  I think he is dangerous and had he not won a couple of championships they would have done something about him.  Some of his moves are do or die and it is obvious that if he carries on like that there is a very high probability that someone will do!

I see Honda are saying that because Rossi cut the corner and had an advantage he should have been penalised.  What they neglect to mention is that Marquez pushed him off the track.  Very poor from Honda and they should be seen to support safety even if it means they lose the Constructor's Championship.

GOAT 46! The Doctor will see you now.

What Honda are forgetting is that if there hadn't been a Rossi shaped rider and Yamaha bike in the way Marquez would have been horizontal on the gravel so to push another rider off the track and then claim he cut the corner is ambitious at best. If I was Honda I would be keeping a very low profile to avoid Marquez getting penalties.

I think so; certainly it was Silverstone, Vale - Club complex in practice, so it wasn't even like Marquez would have risked a grid slot or race place by backing off.

As an ex-marshal myself, I have strong feelings about driving standards, and observing yellow, white and black flags in particular!

Agreed - Marquez made what was clearly an unsafe passing attempt and in doing so hit Rossi which gave Rossi the option of a) ditching the bike sideways or b ) straightening it up and going over the gravel.

With a lot of riders other than Rossi, that could have ended very painfully for both riders

I have been scouring the net to see if race control had come to a decision yet but not found anything.  I cannot for the life of me see them calling it anything other than a racing incident which will appease neither party but at leasts it means that they do not have to sanction Marquez in any way.  That said I believe Marquez needs to be controlled and he needs to learn from this.  His enthusiasm and rashness is no doubt due to his age but he needs to grow up where safety is concerned.

Thankfully it has been a long time since there was a death in Moto GP (RIP Marco) but the increasing aggressive and reckless riding has to be controlled no matter who the culprit is.

As much as I agree that Marquez's riding is at times questionable, ie he is relying on bumping into other riders to slow himself down... everyone seems to forget that Rossi was exactly the same years ago. Hence why he is still hugely intimidating to other riders to this day. As he will not give up in a fight!

This 'killer instinct' as it were is ultimately what makes the really great riders. There are recent exceptions though, like Casey Stoner & Jorge, but I would hardly class these two as the greatest riders there has ever been.

To me, the prospect of these two great riders going head to head is very exciting! MotoGP really is in a great place at the minute and I hope it doesn't change and goes to the wire with 3 riders this year.

I agree with you about Rossi being a hard man on track as well Alex hence me posting this above...

We want to see close racing and that at times does mean a bit of coming together but not using the other rider and machine as your brake.  Rossi has had many battle over the years.  I recall him being beaten by Biaggi and him saying that Biaggi would never beat him again and guess what?  He didn't.  He has had battles with other riders all the time he has been in the game but he has never been as bad as Marquez is now and he has talent way beyond anyone else in the game at the moment.

If Rossi can continue to qualify well he will take some stopping.  Lorenzo is a complex character and his head beats him sometime before he even gets out onto the track but on his day he is a force to be reckoned with.  Marquez has done well no doubt about it but he cannot ride around bike problems like Rossi can and Rossi is the master of riding fast on worn tyres putting in his fastest laps at the end of the race.
