In 2011 when I bought my Yeti there were lots of people who waited a year for their Yetis.

That does not sound good...I've ordered three weeks ago today and haven't a build date yet. Might need to reconsider my choice I think.

I would have thought that a build date should be confirmed by now. Maybe find out how long does it take build date to be confirmed.

Mine vRS is at the UK port. Ordered on 27th March so by the time I will receive either late w/c 29/6 or early w/c 6/7 would be 14 or 15 weeks since order date. Good news is that build week was wk22 so SUK confirmed this morning that it is my16 spec.

I got my vRS TDI delivered on Tuesday by Johnsons VW of Tamworth. We ordered it through Freedon Contracts on the 9th April. It was registered on the 29th May while it was on the boat I reckon, it was in Grimsby on the 1st. So it was built in 7 weeks and delivered in sub 10.

I get the feeling that Johnsons ship these in large volume through Freedom so they get pre build slots reserved.

It looks like its a mere 15MY. I only opted for (free) metallic paint and front + rear park sensors "Park Pilot". Its got the free 5.8" Amundsen Nav, aux/USB on the left, 2 SD slots and a CD in the glovebox and its really fast and very quiet (unless you press the vRS button). Very surprised about the level of equipment, the quality of the audio and the rather comedy lane assistance although its not happy if I set the cruise control and pick up the paper for a read! (only kiddin). I particular like the number plate ##15 WGN (wagon?)

I just need to find a black grille trim now. The only reason I didn't opt for black pack was that the finance company (VW in this case) just divide the cost of the option and spread it over the period of the lease but its probably only a £40 part anyway?

Looks like there might be some long waits for potential Octavia vRS owners.

I was told there are serious build restrictions in place for RS now. 16wk minimum order times, so if anyone in the Briskoda family is upset with their dealer.... it's not bull. RS more or less closed till 2016.

Also told that Smartgate is standard on RS SCOUT & L&K in Ireland

Ordered 1st June.. Skoda UK had today told me provisional build date of WC 14th July - VRS Estate TDI - Manual

@GAFF where did you get this info?  What does "more or less closed till 2016" mean?

I think its completely pot luck at this stage I ordered late May and have been told to expect delivery last week of July although I'll believe this when I'm sat in the car, so thats far closer to 10 weeks than the 16 weeks I was quoted on order. I believe that the whole system is built on blocks of cars, sorted by model, type (hatch/combi), gearbox type and geographical destination, so all countries get a fair crack at a slot and cars being shipped to the same places are built together.

A couple of my buddies are in sales with VAG. They seem to think its a case of a build date way into the future and he's trying his best to get an earlier slot.

My understanding is that it would be difficult to get an RS ordered prior to Jan 2016 in Ireland.

Maybe its a case that all regions get a set allocation.....and if they dont use it then another region will get it. Ireland is small....so I image our allocation is pretty small.

Sounds about right.....but what happens if they dont get an earlier slot?

Worst case you should at least have a "future" build date to work back from.

Mine was ordered April for a Post ww23 slot...got a ww25 build....it was built during the week and is now in transit.

That just shows what a lottery it is. I ordered 8th may and gitc week 24. Now sitting in Emden

Expect they wait to gather enough cars for particular destinations- assuming the cars for Ireland travel direct to Dublin or Cork and don't come via UK?? Anyone know the route? My Fabia 3 was built w23, and was at "port in Germany" last Wednesday.

As it was built this week, in transit probably means waiting to be loaded on to the train to Emden :D

If I don't get an earlier slot it started gettig expensive. I'm sure the dealer has allowed for these things when valuing my trade in but I'll have to get the 4th service done which is a major one plus brake fluid, the cars never had pads and the fronts look low plus minimum of two tyres on top of whatever the time delay does to the trade in value. Been here before with another make and delivery delays.

But I'm jumping the gun a while, the guy I'm dealing with is pretty straight up and isn't changing anything he told me about delivery until he knows for sure.

a friend of mine bought a vRS Octavia last year and said he tracked his on marinetraffic.com  you can spot the car carriers at Emden and you can search by destination etc

Yesterday I was told it was on way to Emden.

Maybe both our cars were on the same train.

I imagine there is a define reason for the build slots....ww by region etc to aid transport.

I contacted dealer yesterday to see if car had been built.

I wonder is it same boat that goes from Emden to UK....then onto Ireland?

Is there only x1 UK landing port?....I believe it can land in x2 places in Ireland (Cork OR Wexford).

:-) ... yes - have already been looking at Marine Traffic!  ( Sad :-D  ). Identified one Car Carrier in the port (amongst dredgers and tugs and canal cargo barges).

It's Schelde Highway, which has just docked in Emden, having been to Halmstad in Sweden. Destined for Grimsby port tomorrow evening 21/06 .

When I see what boat's headed for IRL - I'll let ye know !!

Also tracking the boat called Emden - which is the VAG transporter(!) ship. It's in Spain - arrived last night in Santander, from Sheerness (Kent). So - 2 UK ports, at least.

If that's the one that comes to Ireland - we'll have a bit of a wait for it to get back to Emden Port and load.

There may be other boats. I'll find them!

Never thought I'd be gettin quite this nerdy. :-D

[edit] - probably should have a separate transportation thread.

Folks, I thought I read somewhere that the dealer knows the boat you car is on? Could just ask the dealer for that info and track more accurately rather than speculate which ship your car is on.

BTW... On a side note and a random fact, did you know some of these marine tracking sites use crowd sourced information? The ships send out beacons which can be picked up with the right (readily available) kit. Folks around the coast pick this information up and feed to these sites.

Sorry if it's already been covered but couldn't see it on checking.

I've ordered a 140 PS 1.4 TSI which I've been told is going to be the MY16 150 PS,does it have act like a similar powered VW?
