MY16

Featured Replies

I had a print out of the ordered car.  No mention of Amundsen because it it is a free upgrade and they are upgrading all orders.  Did your order form actually refer to it?

You've got me thinking now. On the screen the SatNav was ticked but I can't say it's on the order form.

I will also double check again.

That's a point iamholam. Will see what arrives, hoping it's not held up at port too long

I'll be interested to see how long yours takes, as you're in Perth I assume yours will be coming via Newcastle (Port of Tyne) which is where I am told the hold up is - they're turning away ships or diverting them to Sheerness apparently. I was told to expect a delay of up to 8 weeks.

@domhnall might be worth checking that story with SUK. It helps if you have an order number handy, otherwise they can look you up by name etc. Just ask them for a status update and predicted delivery on the car as last you heard it was at Emden and dealer is away this week.

that's what I was told last night, the guy I've been dealing with is back today, I thought he was back yesterday and so called in as I was passing to check if I could amend the order to 16 inch wheels - one of his colleagues looked it up for me and said "ah, your car was built last week, it's en route to Emden due in there tomorrow". Then he told me that he had been advised there was a backlog at Tyne which was causing cars to be held at Emden. He said he had 6 customers affected and worked out a likely timescale for me but did say it could stretch to 8 weeks. He also said Skoda had been giving shopping vouchers to people as compensation for the added wait.

I'm in no rush. My Yeti is a fun drive, the summer should be here soon so I might get one last use out of the pano sun roof :-)

MIB2 will also be a higher resolution screen so text and images should be crisper. I would imagine that the functionality will be faster and better too. Like moving from an iPhone 5 to an iPhone 6

I see they have updated the web site http://www.skoda.co.uk/models/new-octavia-estate/technology  doesn't mention what size the screen is but that looks like a bigger screen unit in the photo. All mention of screen sizes has now gone!

Fair enough, although don't wait for the weather to improve before you take advantage of the pano... The UK being the UK, Weather could well stay like this through to the end of August/Sept.

I've been getting all excited about mine as I've been carless since end of March. Will be fun going by London bus to pick up the new car :-D

Anyone know what this unit is? I take its the Amudsen, but is this the mythical larger screen? Lol.

From the Skoda UK website

I've seen this in a Yeti in the dealers without Nav in Bolero form. I don't think it's the one that will come with the Octavia but the internals are probably similar. It's just sized to fit the Yeti double din slot.

I threshing that I have seen some pictures where the ad card slots appear either side of the screen. I don't think that is the configuration in the Octavia though?

call me old fashioned but I prefer the weather to be dry before I open the roof - if I want to get wet there'#s other ways I can do that  :rain:  :D

@domhnall Its nice and sunny here in London. They predicted heavy rain before and around the weekend but didn't see much of it, just a lot of cloud and somewhat warm temperatures hence my comment. Clearly different situation where you are :-(

LOL, wet on Saturday, drizzle yesterday, cold and damp today, sunroof staying shut

That's a relief, because that picture of the unit is a lot uglier than the Octavia MIB1 units.

well I just had a call from Skoda UK, in response to my email about fitting 16 inch wheels to the car. He confirmed I'm too late as my car is now at Emden but while he was on I asked about the amundsen screen size. He'd not heard of that one before but went to check and came back with confirmation that as of week 22 they have fitted units with the larger higher res screens.

So good news all round - unless you want to play CDs of course

Thats a shame you'll have to pay £30 a year VED then, instead of the £20, that the 16's would have been liable for...

isn't it £110?

oh wait a sec, the VED rating for the 1.4 has changed....again.

When they announced the new Euro 6 engines they said the 1.4 SEL estate was 121 gm CO2 therefore £110 tax, they seem to have changed the site again, now 119g so band C

Ah Sorry

I thought you had opted for the Diesel, which is £30 for 17" wheels and £20 for 16's

So now that the mystery of the MIB2/Screen size is (nearly) solved, time to take this thread in a new direction...

So my car was built in week 22. Given Skoda's (lack of) knowledge around MY16 so far and the fact that SUK agents have had to manually convert MY15 orders to MY16, I'm naturally concerned if I may receive a Frankentavia being one of the first of the new cars. Anyway, seems there is a completely new and unexpected concern around the early MY16 cars. I'm being told by the dealer that the DVLA doesn't recognise / have a coding / details for the new MY16 car, I expect since it's EU6 compliant and the extra power (PS). This is causing delay in getting the car registered.

Additionally, I can't get an accurate insurance quote on the car 1) because I don't have the reg yet and 2) Like the DVLA, the Insurance systems haven't got the MY16 car listed yet!

Have people come across this problem before. How long does it take for Skoda/DVLA to get things in order? How long does it take for this information to trickle through to the insurance companies?

I'm not sure what I've opted for any more :-)

I went for the 1.4 so I could get elegance trim. That meant it was 121g of CO2 and therefore £110 VED. The SE with 16 inch wheels was 119g of CO2 and therefore £30 VED.

Then came 16 inch wheel option which would have cut my tax, but I missed the boat on that one as my car got built so quickly. But now it seems the 1.4 is 119g of CO2 regardless of wheel size.

Confused? You will be  :p

very good questions!

I suspect that will warrant a call to Skoda UK, as it is they who are selling cars that cannot be legally used on UK roads...

we might have to wait until the finalise what the figures are, given they keep changing on the Skoda UK web site how can the DVLA finalise their systems?
