Is there a way of turning the daylights off, sick of comedians saying "nice Volvo"

I wouldn't worry they'll soon get bored.

Besides your car will fit inside the boot of most Volvo's  :D

Damo,what am I looking at mate,need help

You need to pull one fuse out. I can't remember which one, but owner's manual helps if you wish.

Fit Mtec DRL bulbs, should both be blown within a few days, job done :-)

Presumably these "comedians" are living in the past and have never seen DRLs before.

You are looking at VCDS codes, what VCDS is, is effectively the equivalent of what the dealer will use to check fault codes with the car, however VCDS can be used (again by plugging into the cars ECU) to activate or deactivate certain features that are available on the car but the dealer will usually charge to do this, I'm on my mobile but if you look in the VCDS section of the forum there should be a map of people who have VCDS, otherwise you could take the fuse out yes (fuse 21 or 22 I believe but again look in the manual to be sure) or you might be able to get your dealer to do this for you, but they may charge you for this, hope that helps

also an MOT failure isnt it? all cars after a certain date HAVE to have them fitted.

I'd have to agree with silver on that case, remember the mark 2 Fabia and how some came with DRL's activated from factory and others didn't? :x

Fitted yes (Even then only to brand new models type approved after a certain date, facelift models do not count), but no requirement for them to actually work hence most cars can still have them switched on/off by software or a physical switch. DRL's are not an MOT testable item, and unlikely to be so for some considerable time as quiet a lot of cars sold today do not even have them fitted at all.

It's fuse no. 22

Take it out and daylights are off.

Correct its fuse 22. I had to replace mine after my DRL,s blew.

They also probably fit into the group of motorists who don't put their lights on until it's almost dark. They are the reason that I like DRLs, I'd prefer to be seen than become one of their accident statistics.

Probably the same group that drive with their fog lights on long after the fog has cleared....

It's your call, but all cars after a certain date have to be fitted with them. It's not imitating Volvo, it's complying to legislation. I suppose the BMW's and Audi's with their daytime running lights and auto lights are just Volvo's to then too? Sad that people are so ignorant, and that you've had to be on the receiving end of it. Sorry!

So the comedians must have cars without drls so it sounds to me if they are unaware of the regulations regarding them , or they are just jealous of your super Citigo[emoji4]

Time to open the emergency can of banter:

"**** off you ****!"

Iv always understood the law on bulbs/lighting to be if fitted they must work. I know this from my truck driving life, as we have many times fitted extra running lights etc and police have always said the above. So don't know where you stand with DLR, maybe not law to be fitted but law if fitted that they work?

But they do work, he just wants to switch them off. Your headlights all work but you don't have them on all the time.

DRL,s look great. I can't understand why you'd want them off.

My Volvo recently passed an MOT with both front fog lights not working, they are low and prone to stones smashing the lenses and then bulbs.

I think DRL,s look great too .[emoji4]
