What was your first home computer?

Mine was a Vic20 max 3.5k  with 8 colours and cassette tape, was a great little thing, I even started to learn basic programming on it, and you could get quite a few games for it, although very basic

 

If I remember right it cost me £139 at the time

Had a black and white screen that I turned green with a stick on film. Was OK but nowhere near as much software available for it as for some other machines.

Commodore 64 as a child

Amiga 500 / 600 as an older child

After that think I had a 486PC alongside a PS1

Then gradual PC upgrades over time - Had an N64 at Uni, then a PS2

Kept going with the PCs, never got any games consoles after the PS2 became outdated.  Couldn't be bothered.

Atari 400. They were very forward thinking; they had splash-proof keyboards way before internet porn had been thought of.

I used it mainly for playing Star Raiders and let X=X+ 1 shizzle lol

Mine were an IBM at 66 MHZ processor, 300MB Hard drive and 16GB of RAM.

 

I then upgraded to a 133MHZ machine with a 3GB hard drive! I tried my best to fill it but had no such luck. 

..Could fill that installing office now adays!

Oh yes, i found an acorn archimedes a3000 stuck in the bottom of the cupboard too, that still works as well.

ZX81 that came as a kit for £49.95, got sent back after a couple of months because it wouldnt do square roots. Then we got a VIC20.

An Olivetti M28 with a 14" colour monitor. 80286 processor and very little RAM.  20GB hard disk.  I acquired the PC for minimal outlay from my employer who had just gone bust.  Used that for less than a year then upgraded to an Evesham Micros 80486 computer.

Vic 20 for me too.

Still have a spectrum +2A 128k in the cupboard with all leads and stacks of games. Works perfectly too as I fired it up earlier this year for some crap retro gaming lol

Commodore 64 (loved it)

Commodore Amiga

Ps1,then Ps2

Also Sega Saturn and a Dreamcast

N64 as well

Then Xbox 360 and now Xbox One

Which I'd modified so that the Plus 1 could auto stop/start it. It also allowed my 4 colour pen plotter or Centronics 4" thermal printer to be attached!

The latter item was brand new and cost me £25 from a computer show at the GMex centre in Manchester.

One of the game systems by Grandstand that plugged into the TV and had a choice of four different sports - football, tennis, squash and something else.

First proper computer was a Dragon 32. Wales' finest!

After that a C64 then an A500 followed by an SX 25 PC.

Still got them all and loads more in the loft.

I had to go the the YC Governors to get permission because it cost so much...LOL

Are you sure, a friend had an MZ-80, and I am sure it came with a green screen.

 

My first was a Commodore +4 I picked up at a bankruptcy auction, my mum borrowed to to practice typing on and hammered the keys through the casing.

 

I followed that with a C64 (same thing happened), then an Amiga 500+ that I did all the mods on and still resides in my loft - complete with the add-on HDD (upgraded from 20MB to 200MB).

 

Mum finally bought a PC in 1997, and I built my first shortly after - to help figure out how she kept buggering up hers!!!

 

PC gfx didnt catch up with the Amiga until at least 2005.
