Many thanks for that heads-up, LadyLoki.

Does that mean that if I go to my dealer and complain that I have the D, G or H version fitted, and that they are likely to fail at some stage, the dealer is authorised to replace them with the J or L?

  • Author

Reads that way to me mate.

A sort of a recall then  , but only if you complain in person ?

Looks to me like theyre telling the dealers to replace as a matter of course any time a vehicle with the "old" coil packs is in the workshop.

Therefore, if you suspect your car has them, find something trivial, and covered by warranty, and get the coil packs done at the same time :D

That's about the size of it! Luckily you all seem to have good dealers so there shouldn't be any problems.

But there is absolutely nothing wrong with my car apart from being fitted with the 'wrong' coil packs......:(

many thanks for that!

We received the same bulletin.....as far as we are concerned, every car that comes in - which is within the effected range -- get's coils -- becuase the customer complained -- didn't he/she

And point of order! --- how comes Skoda give .30tu's & .70tu's -- Audi give .20tu's & .50tu's respectfully

great so i will have thousands of skud owners banging on my doorstep tommorrow!

i wonder how long it will be before skoda have no stock after all this panic buying thats gonna take place i know because i've just told parts man to order 50 of them!

Keeps you from hanging around on street corners doesnt it?

Get back to work and stop moaning :D

You need to be quicker than that BigK -- We ordered 100 of each type -- last week

Thanks for the info .

Had the car serviced only 2 weeks ago - a 4*4 .... insisted that the coils be replaced with " L " versions .....

Skoda UK were contacted - they said that if any coils had been previously replaced ( 3 had ) they would not be covered under warranty ... they were the " H " variety .... replacing " G "s ..... yes very old !

Living in N Wales , a breakdown in winter is not a thing to be relished , so I paid up !!

Me thinks I will be faxing them tomorrow .........

But didn't Audis have the problem first - and in much bigger numbers than the Skoda? (Not stirring - much).

err,umm ahh weeelll you see it was like this...................................

I think Denis you may be right (as usual!) I think we will need at least 5 times that number before we've finished -- we did 7 car's today that were booked in for other work that came under the bulletin - plus a further 3 cars that had broke down.......OH Bummox here comes winter again

Do yours need changing, Dave? Just curious...

LadyLoki,

Do you know if Skoda Ireland would have received the same bulletin. I'm not too sure which type of coil packs I have but mine is an early 2001 model so I'd say theres probably a good chance I have bad ones.

Edited

I just check the part number of mine and there 06B 905 115G, I also sent Skoda Ireland an e:mail so hopefully they have issued the same bulletin.

Well, that's good news for me :) and that's bad news for me :(

Godd news - I'm going to book the car in to get the coolant tank sensor checked (and probably replaced). I'll ask them to sort out the coil packs at the same time.

Bad news - only last Saturday, I bought two coil packs to keep as spares! (wonder if they'll take them back and give me a refund?)

LadyLoki: Thanks for the info. Just in case they're not aware of the Bulletin, is it OK if I quote it to them, or is it supposed to be confidential?

I reckon you can quote it, but not your source...

I'm always up for adding to the arsenal of weaponry Q. Can I have an Aston Martin too? Pretty please?
