Damo's 2006 Octavia VRS

Damo

Recommended Posts

I know the fascia is a bit marmite Chris, no need to apologise for your opinion

I did it as the trim was scratched and tatty

Thinking I might do the silver trims gloss black to keep the theme going, see if looks any better

It actually does look a lot nicer in the flesh though.

Bodywork seems ok, just a few scratches here and there, but not too shabby for a 9 year old.

Stu always kept it well waxed, so its been protected.

A good machine polish should help though.

Front end is the worst, because of the chips, although in a couple of weeks it should be mint after the respray

Its on 124k, which sounds a lot... but you would never know.

Everything is either new, or uprated.

Gearbox is slick, suspension has no knocks, no rattles or squeaks and everything feels so tight and like new.

It feels like a car with 24k on, thats how good it is.

Im amazed that I got a car like this for under 4k tbh

Got to be a bargain IMO

As already said on the Briskoda FB pages Damo - a very interesting change - but a lovely car.

Wow - what a list of mods already completed - looks like you will be tinkering with the absolute minute detail to make this car better....

Still - I'm sure you are upto the challenge and we look forward to the project thread updates...  ;)

Cheers Ste

Yes, a complete change after the superb.

After buying a car for the daughter, I wanted something fun and a daily for work... budget 5k

So for 4k this is a win win for me

Yep, I agree with you Damo, should look mint after a respray, Sprint Yellow really suits the Pre FL octavia.

:o That sure is a fine looking Octy, in the fasted colour to ;) means I'll have to make another 600 mile round trip to the Yorkshire meet again someday so I can see it in the flesh if you to are popping along

Thanks guys.

Hoping to make the National Steve, fingers crossed.

Hyphons, I'm sure I'll make a Yorkshire meet soon (although they keep moving it further north and west)

Further North? That's really testing my economic driving :D

Outstanding  determination and dedication.

Looks fabulous.

Are the side windows Tints or  blinds - I ordered the blinds for my 2006 VRS and they will not fit.

Have  posted a question concerning the running of the VRS - to cut a long story short - i do short journeys - apparently this is no good at all for the VRS.

I have fitted new Alloys - DRC 19" -  BACK CAT EXHAUST - K&N TYPHOON INDUCTION KIT - MILLTEK CAT BACK EXHAUST - & REMAP.

What are your views on short runs etc -

I picked it up from Oxford on Monday 11th May, and the previous owner Stu, had really looked after the car, but it did need a few things sorting.

First of all were some dents. I used Dent Wizard, who did some work on the wifes car, and he managed to get them all out.

Next up is the stone chips on the front. Its going in for a front end respray next month, so should look mint then.

Anyway some pics after I gave it her first clean under my ownership yesterday:-

Loving this car, the power on tap is awesome, and its nice to be back in a VRS :)

I will keep updating this thread when I do more things, but for now Im just going to get her to tip top shape, starting with a full front end respray to get rid of the million stone chips.

Some new pressed metal plates are on order too.

Thanks for viewing, and feel free to comment

Cheers

Damo

Hi Damo, just got a 56 plate vrs and was looking at changing the head unit. How did you find it? Any help welcome. Cheers
