Just joined the 280 club today, picking up just before Xmas. Rather excited, have been sniffing around them for some and suddenly saw this online this morning, Had only just been dropped off by the last owner so not valeted or anything yet. Think I got her for a really good price so very happy.

SEL spec with 19"s. Nice and subtle.

Congratulations! And SEL spec is the business 😉 I would say that though!

Looks fantastic on those wheels. Welcome to the 280 club B)

Thanks Chris. I wouldn't have chosen the 19s but they do look great. I will probably find a set of 17s to put some winter rubber on as well. I live in Cornwall but hoping to use her for ski trips at some point if the future allows.

Tyre choice does seem a little limited on these compared to say 225/40/18. Odd sizes on the superb. I could get a set of mid range tyres fitted to my octavia 4x4 for just over £200. Not as bad as the £270 each runflats in 2004 on my Z4 though.

Currently researching Towbar and reversing camera retrofit. I'm really not worried about the moving lines, just hitching up. Anyone know if a lowline camera gives a view of the towball?

Edited by MarkyTDI

I don't know on the towbar, but the 17 inch wheels from the SE fit over the brakes on the 280. I've fitted these to my car with some all-season tyres (Michelin Cross Climate+). These tyres were significantly cheaper than the standard 18 inch-ers.

First off, to newbie69, i'm commenting here as i don't want to clutter your 272 remap thread with stuff that's relative to the 280. I don't want you thinking i'm being rude or ignorant.

Today i had the apr stage 2 flash done. I thought stage 1 was good, but this is even better, but it comes at a cost.

The downpipe and mid pipe (without resonator) cost 1045 quid alone. The remap was 120 quid.

I'm still on the standard spark plugs because the tuner can't get any better ones till March. It's now running 1.8 bar of boost.

Its 385bhp and 412ft/lb of torque.

It will take a while to get used to because it pulls even harder now than stage 1.

I'm not so sure if i like the exhaust note though when pressing on. It sounds like the baffles are being blown out the standard backboxes.

Above 2600 revs there's a boom. I think i can live with this, i'll just have to drive slower if i'm carrying passengers.

As for economy, time will tell, but my 12 mile drive home from the tuners showed 20.9mpg. Gulp!

Edit - Just to say that after a few more run outs, mpg has gone up. Some runs have returned 28mpg, others have done 32mpg, so no worse than stage 1 was.

Hi - looking for advice on  error message "Particulate filter regeneration required. Consult owner's manual"

This error came up on my dash earlier this week - I have 272 estate, 2 years old and done just under 17K.

Any advice on how long a journey is needed for regen to complete? I have been looking after my parents for 3 weeks so journeys have mainly been very short - basically just a few 100m as they cannot walk.

I spoke to Skoda service department and they suggested a 30 minute drive which I have done but fault remains.

Should I just drive for longer or is there a better method.

Thanks in advance ...

Never saw that @Bigeater!  You have to use @ before the name to tag properly! (it'll turn green if you do it right :tongueout:)

Sounds good, but as you say the cost of a normal stage 2 is dysproportional to the gains when compared to stage 1. To be honest that's why i loved my nearly free (just 100 for the remap) GPF Stage 2 that requires no catalyst upgrade. 1.8bar peak boost is what I'm seeing on mine as well.

Would be nice if you got the chance to do a 100-200 run with proper equipment (in some private airfield of-course), we would then have some more solid comparisons on how a stage 2 performs on the 280 vs the 272 and if the REVO claims about making the same power on the stock cat as pre-GPF on upgraded cat are true, although they certainly point towards that direction so far.

I find my economy exactly the same after the stage 2. Did a 100mile trip today and I saw the same numbers as before which makes sense unless you are on full boost all the time.

That's a new to me. I didn't even know a GPF car could ever request a regen from the driver, I mean like Diesels do, I had the impression any regens where quicker/easier to do and were carried out in the background.

Mine's two years old too, 20k km and mostly sitting the last months but I try to take it for some blasts on a weekly basis. Never seen such a message. Some weeks it's only done that actually, hasn't seen the family for a while and at this point you could say it's more of my toy than our daily driver :D

Has yours been sitting for long?

Yes  I was surprised to see the message too. Havent been doing many miles recently with lockdown, no commute etc and any journeys were long enough to ensure engine is fully warmed up.

However the last 3 weeks have been staying with my mother as father taken into hospital. Each evening driven ~0.5km to my sisters for tea - my mother cant walk that far. So 3  weeks of daily short journeys seems to have caused the problem :(

Just wondered if anyone had any advice or experience :)

3 weeks of exclusive 2min drives then huh? I wonder if we have discovered the limit over (or under) which the GPF complains...

Good thing I've been using the wife's Corsa to drop the little one to school (3min drive, 1km away) lately. Was thinking why I am suffering with de-icing and entering a frozen car every morning (only one indoor place and the Superb gets that!) when my other car is all warm and cozy but I'll think I'll continue using the Opel after your post! :tongueout:

I doubt anyone else has seen that message on a petrol car (or maybe I've missed that) so maybe you're a pioneer :)

Hmmhhh - pioneer - that worries me  Anyway probably heading home tomorrow so 65 mile journey down the M4. Might pop into the Skoda garage in Swindon on my way past if error still showing - hopefully not.

@Bigeater It would be interesting to see a view showing how your exhaust sounds at idle and being rev'd as there's not many 280's with a resonator delete and it's something I'm considering myself.

Short update - so made my return journey home this afternoon and the regen completed within 15 minutes of the start of my journey :)

Hi, are you sure about 6-speed? 2021 version comes with 7-speed DSG DQ381...

Yup, I'm pretty sure, that's why I wrote "Egyptian version"....we have a unique specifications, sometimes "unique" means downgraded or outdated, unfortunately

It is still DQ250 here in Egypt, DQ381 will be introduced for the first time in Egyptian market in Octavia VRS, 245ps

Ok thanks, I didn't know.
Out of curiosity, can you tell me if it mounts the cjx or the dnu engine?
In any case, great choice!

No problem, there are a lot of options have been removed unfortunately, despite that it is the highest version in Egypt (ACC, and GPS navigation as examples).

As regards the engine, I'm not sure, just tell me how I could know, is it obvious from engine number?? And if I may ask, what is the difference between the two versions??

I don't know where you can find it. I have this code reported on vehicle registration document, on a S/N that says "DNUA" at some point. DNU is engine, A is the power output version (the lower 272 in my case).

CJX is the older engine version. DNU has lost dual injection (MPI or port injection), lost exhaust valves, and "gained" OPF.

But it is basically the same engine.

I've checked engine code and it is confirmed, it is cjx. But again, does it have any cons/pros against that dnu one??? Thank you

Actually, as I've said, sometimes it is a bit confused here in Egypt: the Engine is cjx, 280ps (206kw) and 350N.m (not 380). And yes it is 2021 model 😅😅
