That is your choice of course, but who do you think supplies all the brokers?

It’s not some back street salesman who is ‘stacking them high and selling them cheap’ no it’s a regular dealer, they may not be YOUR local dealer, but they are somebodys local dealer, in the case of carwow you even get to choose which dealer to buy from, NCD are slightly different as they use a dealer who supplies ‘fleet’ cars, cars are like everything else... the more you buy the cheaper they become (bonus discounts direct from Škoda) this discount is then passed onto the customer.

I do not want to say who the NCD dealer is (as NCD do not themselves tell you) but it is one of the biggest dealers in the North West so you have no worries with them.

FWIW I bought our Yeti through carwow and the Superb through NCD.

(I also bought my S2 through Broadspeed.... but we won’t go there!!)

Totally agree with the above......hopefully this discussion is finished now so I can resume with my Eskimo throat singing!!

Very interesting, I've been using Carwow & Euro Skoda Worthing didn't make me any offers.

However, I've been put in touch with another fleet sales guy, in one of JCB's VW dealers & I've had some very interesting offers on Golfs.

Since we seem to have decided that a Superb Estate suits our needs better than a Golf R Estate, (yes, I know that we might be making a financial mistake, but...........),

& this guy was happy to supply a Superb, via Euro Skoda Worthing. It seems that Euro Skoda are now part of the JCB group, & there seems to be something of a trend here,

quite a few of the newer Skoda franchises are owned by VW group dealers. More arrows to their slings, perhaps?

Even sillier, my nearest Skoda dealer is owned by what used to be a Ford only group.

When compared to the best Carwow cash purchase quotations , Worthing was  approx £1100 dearer, but, their PCP figures were better than all the other Skoda dealers.

I think that they were including all of the £2K deposit allowance in their calculations, which seems to be unusual.

As for cash prices, the best offers that we have had, from two Skoda dealers is, £33,093 OTR ,for a Superb L&K 280 Estate in a metallic paint & £620 worth of additional options.

Nothing signed yet, but we are getting closer.................

Interestingly, when I used Carwow, my initial contact was with the JCB VW in Ashford, Kent, it transpired that at the time of my enquiry, JCB had just taken over Euro Skoda at Worthing, so my order was placed with VW at Ashford but the car was then supplied to me through there newly acquired Skoda Group at Worthing.

Just nipped out to put some fuel in...... An hour later Mrs is texting to see where I am lol ! It's great fun !

Back to the gas station, you could have burned a lot of fuel in an hour!

Nick_H, you really must stop posting about how good the 280 Superb is, I'm beginning to want one, and I thought I'd never say that.

:-) well I suppose it's not for everyone but it is fun ! Maybe not in the way a Caterham or Slk 55 would be.... But if you just don't have the space for a weekend toy and enjoy having the option of lugging a wardrobe to sixty in 5.8 seconds not that many options out their for the price ....

Had my 280 for a month now and well chuffed. Likes its V-Power (only doing 22.7mpg over 3500 miles) but its great fun. Like the look on 911 drivers faces when they move over :D  Admittedly only an 'older' 03 plate Porsche but still made me giggle!

Have you tried it on 95 RON or has it been VPower from new? Just curious as to whether you found any quantifiable differences if so, as I currently run VPower or M99 in my Mazda but the new S3 TSIs are now only listed as needing 95 RON.

I've only put V-Power or Tesco 99 in it. Will try it sometime, but don't want to 'lose ' any power at the moment. My 2006 VRS Octy was noticeably better with V-Power.

I had to put one tank of 95 in as the station had nothing else.

Car did not seem any different, so much power a little drop would make no difference in day to day driving and the consumpton seemed just as bad! :D

Will stick to the higher octane when I can as it may invalidate the warranty if you use 95, but if I was an owner three years down the road I think it would be a different story.

According to the current brochure, there is no mention at all of 98 octane....just states 95!

I am lost for words with youre ave mpg of 22.7,im often flooring mine,as you say, great fun,and my ave mpg over 5600 miles is almost 32, on top grade fuel.i strongly suggest you have the car checked over,or replace youre diving boots for trainers! kevin.

Does the sticker on the inside of the filler door indicate that you MUST use any particular octane rating?

Our current cars all state minimum 95 octane.

Since the only gas station (ASDA) in our town sells either diesel or 95 octane, it's an important question!

When we had the remaps done, we were asked what fuel grade we were going to use, we said 95, of course & the maps were adjusted accordingly.

Actually says  '98' on the inside of the filler cap.

The sticker say "98/(95) RON/ROZ"

98 is the recommended rating, 95 RON is the minimum.

I use 97 RON as that's what is available in my locality. I only filled once with 95 RON and noticed no adverse effect but then I probably wouldn't notice any difference unless I used it persistently.

3,500miles too but my lifetime average is 28. The only time I got consumption to drop anywhere near your figure was when I was doing over 140 mph on the Autobahn (and that was with V-Power Racing 100 RON in the tank)!

What the brochure says is: Fuel Unleaded petrol min. RON 95 or Unleaded petrol min. RON 91 Diesel CZ 51. No biodiesel. †

†Using low-octane fuel may affect engine performance.

What the manual says is: The correct fuel grades for your vehicle are specified on the inside of the fuel filler flap.

Unleaded petrol 98/(95) RON / ROZ We recommend using unleaded fuel with an octane rating of 98 RON or higher. Unleaded petrol 95 RON can also be used but this results in a slight loss in performance and slightly increased fuel consumption.

I cant get 98 octane here (there are no retailers) so i've kept it fed on millers octane booster since day 1. topping it up by 4 RON numbers per tank and hoping its at least 95.

none of the retailers here will provide an octane rating for their fuel, but all claim 95 with 6.x percent ethanol in the mix.

the various skyline and scooby folks reckon from their fuel sensors and logging that its around there too for most of the brands, and they all top up with octane booster too

fwiw, the car is running really well, and as i get more miles on it (up to 1k now) its certainly getting a bit smoother too

Thanks Billyjim et al,

So I could use 95 from Asda, but I'd be better to try & fill the car elsewhere when possible.

Coincidently I just had to fill up at my local garage that only has 95, the attendant was on a comfort break (yes we still have petrol attendants to fill your car!) so a mechanic did it.

I mentioned that I should really put 97/98 in but that it wouldn't matter every so often to fill with 95 with which he agreed, but he did say that he used to work at VW and he had seen problems with higher octane engines that had been run for long periods on 95 with carbon build up in the combustion chambers.

Change of direction here.....does anyone know whether the 280 has a timing belt or chain?, thank you.

Where have you been driving, somewhere that has no speed limits?

I've got a voucher for 7p off a litre at Sainsbury's so my 1st tankful will be their Super Unleaded, after that I have both Shell and Tesco filling stations nearby so spoilt for choice really! :)
