Thanks for posting, eurotraveller. There's 16 wasted minutes of my life I won't get back.

I did love the linked Honest John Superb Estate video (but not a 280), especially at the end when he swings his kid's toy cat.

Now that was funny :)

Can you get black leather with the LK 280 as brouchure only shows beige and brown.

At least here in Finland the configurator now shows black leather as an option for the 280 L&K model. I am still waiting for my 280, so I emailed my sales guy asking if it would be possible to switch from brown to black interior. No reply yet.

From what I can see so far it´s Finland, Sweden and Belgium where the black seating can be chosen in the configurator for the L&K.

UK config lets you select black upholstery on the L&K now

Perhaps because of the supply issues with beige??

Indeed it does! That’s a bit annoying, as I would probably have chosen it.

I have the beige; very nice, but not exactly low maintenance. With the brown you’re so limited on external colours in my view.

It certainly was always a weird move on Skoda’s part to rule it out in the first place – they clearly shot themselves in the foot there. Too many people want black leather.

Not exactly a 280-specific topic…

My car wasn't locked for production, so they were able to switch the seats to black leather. It seems that they have ran out brown cows, local importer said that I might get my car faster with black leather. Also changed Moon White paint to Quartz Grey, after two Candy White Octavias I originally wanted something different, but with brown interior only Moon White looked good to me.

Yeah I would have gone for an L&K if I could have had black. Never mind went towards beer tokens :-)

Popped into the dealers this morning to have a look at mine before I collect it on March 1st.  Salesman left me to it so spent some time playing with all the buttons and checking that all of the options I'd ordered were fitted

I've got black leather in my current Elegance, & cream leather (Cornsilk Beige....) in the EOS, which is why

we've chosen the Beige leather for the new SuperB.

I've had Ford's Oyster Beige in both red  & green Mondeo's, for 6 & 3 years respectively & had no problems

with the colour or quality.

Thank you been wanting to see the hatch in red, looks great.

If you want more piccies of a red L&K (220, not a 280 though) then my dealer has their ex-demo car for sale: http://www.bickertonskoda.co.uk/used-cars/view/YS65FFO/superb-hatchback-5-dr

It's the reason I actually bought a new car  :D  When I first dropped in to take a look they had a grey SE which just didn't do it for me.  Suggested to the wife that she had a look and as soon as I stepped into the showroom that car was right in front of me.  I couldn't give the salesman my cash fast enough  :o

Wow.....these dealers are such rip-off merchants, that's virtually the same price as I am paying for my brand new 280 l&k estate including options and no mileage!!!!

I like the Beige DC and would have gone for it in a second. Was just worried about how it would stand up to punishment delivered by a 10 year old :-)

At that price it's maybe under £2K from list, the only options I can see are the 19" wheels & the paddles.

“Rip-off merchants”? I’ll take issue with that (and no, I have no connection whatsoever with the car trade).

I paid a price you would clearly regard as a rip-off. And yet I don’t feel ripped off. Why? Am I foolish?

Well, I suppose if you buy online and everything goes swimmingly you’ll have done a lot better than me. But what if it doesn’t? Who’ll be there for you then? What if the car delivered to the dealership turns out, for whatever reason, to be unfit for handover. That’s roughly what happened in my case and, boy, did the dealer bend over backwards to ‘make it right’. Furthermore, I would be amazed if it didn't cost the dealer real money, too. That, combined with the fact that Skoda UK will obviously listen when one of their own bricks-and-mortar dealers puts a strong case, ‘made it right’. Could / would an online dealer do that? ‘Snowball’, ’chance’ and ‘hell’ are the three words that come to mind.

I wouldn’t even think of buying a TV set or whatever relatively trivial like that anywhere but online, however for a big ticket item like this I prefer a strong, face-to-face relationship with the vendor.

Well, each to their own....personally, I would rather save eight grand than line my local dealers pockets who may or may not be okay.

For your information it is actually coming from a dealership anyway (no idea as to who yet though!) I have done a lot of homework on the online broker, paid the deposit via credit card. so I am covered there....and IF after close scrutiny when it has been delivered I am not happy...I will just reject it as I am legally allowed to now. But I am confident that it wont come to this and I will be happy and the dealer concerned will be happy as I'm sure they will still be making a profit.

Funny thing is...a couple of months ago, I bought a TV online....very competent and quick and the delivery was also very competent and courteous, and I saved a packet as well!!

I purchased through Carwow, I then opted for the best deal from the competing dealers, in my case Euro Skoda, Worthing, I then dealt with them directly, paid deposit on credit card, no hassle, with Skoda contribution and Carwow discount, saved 14.1% off of retail price.

Dealer notified me when car came in, I viewed it at dealers before PDI, all good, picked up following day, great service, dealer was very good, they appreciated my business and asked to be considered for future car servicing, they obviously want the business.

DC,

People in their 40's are the most dangerous lol

Very interesting, I've been using Carwow & Euro Skoda Worthing didn't make me any offers.

However, I've been put in touch with another fleet sales guy, in one of JCB's VW dealers & I've had some very interesting offers on Golfs.

Since we seem to have decided that a Superb Estate suits our needs better than a Golf R Estate, (yes, I know that we might be making a financial mistake, but...........),

& this guy was happy to supply a Superb, via Euro Skoda Worthing. It seems that Euro Skoda are now part of the JCB group, & there seems to be something of a trend here,

quite a few of the newer Skoda franchises are owned by VW group dealers. More arrows to their slings, perhaps?

Even sillier, my nearest Skoda dealer is owned by what used to be a Ford only group.

When compared to the best Carwow cash purchase quotations , Worthing was  approx £1100 dearer, but, their PCP figures were better than all the other Skoda dealers.

I think that they were including all of the £2K deposit allowance in their calculations, which seems to be unusual.

As for cash prices, the best offers that we have had, from two Skoda dealers is, £33,093 OTR ,for a Superb L&K 280 Estate in a metallic paint & £620 worth of additional options.

Nothing signed yet, but we are getting closer.................

That is your choice of course, but who do you think supplies all the brokers?

It’s not some back street salesman who is ‘stacking them high and selling them cheap’ no it’s a regular dealer, they may not be YOUR local dealer, but they are somebodys local dealer, in the case of carwow you even get to choose which dealer to buy from, NCD are slightly different as they use a dealer who supplies ‘fleet’ cars, cars are like everything else... the more you buy the cheaper they become (bonus discounts direct from Škoda) this discount is then passed onto the customer.

I do not want to say who the NCD dealer is (as NCD do not themselves tell you) but it is one of the biggest dealers in the North West so you have no worries with them.

FWIW I bought our Yeti through carwow and the Superb through NCD.

(I also bought my S2 through Broadspeed.... but we won’t go there!!)
