I've sprung a leak!

Featured Replies

So after a day of non stop rain (aka - British Summer Time) my MK3 Octi VRS appears to have developed a dripping issue, and the location of said drip interesting at best..

Water appears to be seeping out from the rear view mirror. Looks to be coming straight down the middle interior of the mount and out through the join in the plastic on one side, as well as around the button on the underside of the mirror. The lane assist camera bay appears to be clear of moisture and the camera is operating normally. I've not had any time to start taking plastic off yet to trace the leak back but I'm guessing somewhere the windscreen isn't sealed properly.

Car is due it's first service soon so will get it looked at then I guess. Just thought I'd pop on to share :)

Cheers

Take pictures now whilst you can.

100% guaranteed it won't do it when you want it to i.e. when at the dealers!

Next time it happens drive straight to the dealer, its the interior trim in question!

Do you have a sunroof?

It could be the top edge of the windscreen, and because the headlining is rigid preformed type its channeling along it till it finds some screw hole/ mount, it could be a small leak thats taken time to puddle up above your mirror, so as said get some photos, also give the windscreen top seal area a good hosing before taking it in, so the leak has time to find its way to your mirror when you get to the dealer, if its an early build, they mey know of an issue and a fix is available

To answer Vegit8's question - no sunroof.
