  • Not sure how that would work, by your reconning they would have less need for rear DRL's as they have less daylight hours.   Brake lights are 4 times brighter than a sidelight / rear DRL, th

I guess for me I don't like the idea that an engine off means I've not got instant control. I know it's quick to start but I'd prefer the engine on all the time. Also, I don't think it can do much good to the battery (which seems to be supplied from the factory with the least capacity Skoda can get away with) if like me you like to have some booming music sucking out power.

I can't think of a single time in my very old car without stop/start that I've thought "hmm I could save a few pence turning off my engine in this traffic". I'd like to keep my battery for longer thanks. I expect drivers familiar with stop / start won't have such an antiquated view as me ;)

As an aside I don't think I'd want to switch off my engine with my stereo on running an 800w 4 channel amp, 600w 4 channel amp and 600w mono amp :D

Well after 7 and a bit years and closing in on 70,000 miles with start stop active the whole time (me and the original owner) my 1.4TSI is still on the original battery, start stop wroks perfectly and has never failed to start immediately you touch the throttle and euqally the starter motor has never missed a beat.

So I think your concerns over reliability and impact on the battery life were groundless and VW (Skoda) had designed the system components well.

Ideed the only failure i've had in all that time was the seal on the water pump to engine clock started leaking. I replaced the whole pump myself though the old pump was fine just the seal failed.

Easyish job as its the other end of the engine than the cam belt, replaced its little drive belt while I was at it.

Getting the right coolant and realising all the special tools (to draww a vacuum on the collant expansion tank) and process were un-necessary as it purped itself and drove the air out just fine like any normal car.

Still to early to tell. The biggest wear on any engine is ignition. Having the engine being used under the same conditions as an amazon delivery van (turning on and off 20 times a day) cannot be better. And I cannot be convinced otherwise lol 😁🤣

Of course it is better if engine is aleays running, but the wear at ignition is a problem with cold start. When engine (and oil) is warmed up, the wear should be really minimal.

The whole concept has always shouted danger to me. Your engine going from OFF, to ON and instant acceleration is the worst way to set off. We would never do it to cars pre-AutoStart. 🤷‍♂️

Just my thoughts of course!

I have used engine off for about 40 years. At first in the 80ies and 90ies when engines were really using fuel and I was a student, it was to save money. It worked. No engine, battery, ignition or other issues ever. I usually kept cars for quite a while. I have done this on european - Volvo, Opel / Vauxhall - and japanese cars and when start / stop was introduces I often thought that engines could switch off when the ECU prevented them from doing so. On my last Superb - SII - the battery went after ten years.

I never had a problem of not getting off the spot or not being in control ever - how can you not be in control? You have so many controllers on your car that control everything from steering to braking, so effectively on a modern car YOU are really not in control ever.....

@Meridion, engine manufacturers have long gone away from the concept of running in new engines and with some diesel engines it can take forever for the engine to be at working temperature. You will have more wear if you stick to mega long oil change intervals.

Thank you in advance😁

in Skoda terms, Dynamic Light Assist refers to High Beam Assist (HBA) or Smart Light Assist (SLA).

HBA can be coded/enabled provide u have Bi-Xenon (version A) headlights and A5 Camera.

SLA uses different version B of the Bi-Xenon headlights, and the same A5 Camera.

which one r u referring too?

Look at ur windscreen - if it has a camera like this, then it's the A5 version.

Open ur bonnet and look at the white sticker on top of either headlight.  If it ends in "A" u have the normal Bi-xenon headlights which can do HBA.

If it ends in "B", then u have SLA Bi-xenon headlights.

Hello, I would like to activate the high beam assist. I have a Kodiaq 2019 with LED headlights.

Does anyone know if it can be activated and how? I wanted to try with the codes available on the forums but when I try to access the 09 module I get the message as in the picture.

Has anyone else had this happen? Do you have any tips on how to access the 09 module and its adaptation?

U need to make changes in both the A5 and 09 modules.

This is the coding to enable HBA....

Hi, thanks for the info. But I have a problem that I can't access the 09 module and adaptation. It shows me an error like the one on the sliva that I posted in the first post.

Do you know why it throws this?

Did u enter the security code?

Also, there is no Coding possible for 09.

Ur screenshot shows long coding screen.

U can't do coding as it's all done via adaptations.

U need to go to the adaptations menu.

The adaptation button is not active. I can't click it at all.

Do not change any of the "0" coding in STG 09 even if you manage to get access.

Ok. Thanks for info. Do you know why it's all zeros?

#emird have you done a full autoscan? Can you attach it here please.

As said above, in this controller everything is done with adaptations.

no it is not the original cable. it is clone. could that be the problem? it opens other modules. when i enter the security code it accepts it properly.

I'll do a full scan and attach a picture. I just don't have my laptop with me right now, so I'll do a full scan as soon as I get home.

With this cable and this version of VCDS 24.7 I successfully changed the settings for TSR. I am from Bosnia and Herzegovina and fusion mode does not work here.
