Yep only the crank left in it, only bacause i couldnt undo the pulled bolt. I was litrally chasing the block round the workshop trying to undo it.

They are a complete c@@t to undo on the floor. I had to get it red hot then wedge the crank, stand on the block whilst a mate undid the bolt with a BFO breaker bar

Yeah thats how i plan on doing it. Just need a hand to hold it down :D

When's the engine coming out then Phil?

Need to clear the garage out to get the car in. I'm having to build an extension on the rear to put my bikes in, which in this weather wont be this month.

Bought a set of Brembo's the same as mine painted by stevie wonder. I've stripped these down, will do mine too and paint them along with my new rear brakes (secret at the min ;-) ). These calipers will be for sale when done, will include everything thats needed to fit a 5x100 car everything is brand new. The Brembos didnt need new dust or main seals but nice to have new when overhauling/painting..

should be the same size as the ones he has fitted now... and the same as the set i have sat waiting to go on my fabia :) 36/40mm diameter

Yeah 36/40mm which is perfect for standard MC. Proper good brakes that fit under 16" wheels.

The abuse i've given mine shows how good they really are.

Started on the brakes.. gave them a blasting at work. Bit the hammerite is very stubborn and took ages. So gave up..

Gave them a couple of coats of VHT primer.. i did then sand back the blobs of hammerite and it would have just made them look crap.

IMG_8718.JPG

Have you got to bake that primer on for it to work well? I'm hoping to do mine next week and was thinking of giving the old paint a sand then use etch primer before using a caliper spray paint.

With the VHT paint you spray the primer on, leave it to dry (literally 30 mins at most with a couple of coats) then spray colour on.

To make the paint harden etc it needs putting in the oven @100*C for an hour. But I'm awaiting my high temp brembo stickers to fit, then clear coat before I put them in the oven.

The VHT caliper paint is so easy to use and the finish is brilliant, I did my Octavia front 6 pots and rear 4 pots last year and they looked brand new.

You can just fit them and the heat cycles from hard braking does it, but it's not as effective as the oven.

New dust seals and main seals arrived, new bleed nipples and covers too. Should get them rebuilt this weekend.

Managed to miss a bit on one front caliper so gave it a quick coat and its reacted so will need to strip back down.(it does say on the tin it will react if over an hour and under 7 days from last coat) Other 3 are stickered up and ready for clear coat.
