VRS seats causing pain. Any replacement suggestions?

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I got a 2014 VRS a couple of weeks ago and the seats are killing my right hamstring. I can't tilt the front of the seat up at the front to support under my leg so my right hamstring is tight all the time.

I have the seat pushed back as far as I can to try and get my right leg flat on the seat but it's still unsupported. The seat also seems a bit short and would love to be able to extend it like the bmw's and audi's.

Anyone else ever experience this? I'm 6'2'' so not that tall.

If anyone has any suggestions, I'd love to hear them. This is ruining the car for me and making me want to get rid of it.

Thanks for the help,

Alan.

I find them extremely comfortable, but we're all different shapes.

Can you lower the seat as this lowers the back more than the front, this might help? I find my VRS pretty good

Thanks, yeah I've lowered it as much as possible but still causing problems

If you lower the seat aren't you increasing the bend in your knees and therefore the gap between bottom of thigh and the seat?

No not really because I've put the seat a good bit back trying to straighten out my leg so that it will sit flush on the seat. I've tried making it higher but the effect is worse

I think new Passat ergo comfort seats could fit the bill, if you could get them. Front of the seat can be extended and pumped up high like audi sport seats can. I would kill to have such seats in my car.

Is it cloth or leather? On my test drive the Mrs moaned like hell about the cloth seats hurting the backs of her legs....We sat in the dealers leather clad vrs which she said was much more comfortable.

So I ended up with leather heated seats - yay! Not sure if that helps you though....

These are the seats here. A mix of leather and cloth. From doing a bit of research on the internet, a good few people seem to have problems with them. Most of them change them for S3 seats or recaro's.

Gonna take a break from the car and then try it again in a while to see if the pain comes back and if it does I'll have to look at changing the seats or getting rid of the car.

Yeah toni, would be loving them in my car right about now as well :)

I find mine very comfortable but after the wife used my car for a few days I couldn't get comfortable for weeks as she had decided for some reason that every possible adjustment point needed to be played with after the seat not moving for over 12 months. Funny enough after those weeks of trying to get the seat just right again I just moved it forward a click or 2 and it was great. That little bit closer just seemed to take the weight from the back of my legs and more towards my backside.

I know it sounds counter productive, as thats why it took me so long to try it, but worth a try.

I got rid of my car because the seats were killing my lower back. I'm 6ft, and like the seat as low as possible, but stupidly only the back of the base is lowered when you put the seat down thus increasing knee bend as mentioned above. Ironically it was having the much softer sprung Octy SE courtesy car (after my car had broken down for the 2nd time) that made me realise why I had a sore back. I think you'll find having the seat as high as you can tolerate will help. They'll be fine for someone who doesn't have the seat all the way down.

I'm now in a new 3 series with a tilt adjustable base (I have it almost flat), and now no sore back at all. The base is extendable too which helps further.

Even had a European driving holiday this summer, which would have been unthinkable with the vRS.

Thanks for all the help guys. I'll try playing around with it a bit more.

If you go down the route of swapping the seats out and are wanting to sell the ones you have let me know I'm currently looking to buy some vrs seats

Will do Sh0cky

For me there seems to be a gap between the seat and the back of my neck, particularly when sitting on the passenger side. Might need a neck pillow!

Agreed. And I can't justify the lack of regulation on the headrests.

Never even thought of that
