Don't bet on it, roads are in a sorry state. Hope your suspension is up to it ;)

wonders of still currently having the comfort not the vRS its as high as a tractor and sprung like bed! Although if i find mine hard now i dread the vRS set up as good as it felt when i test drove it.

I shall be prepared for some crashes and bangs then. ;) If you see me weaving around in the road I won't be drunk - I'll just be trying to avoid potholes. :D

unwritten rule whilst 12Volt is on the roads... all other cars must be in reverse to make me feel better

Hi

Good news that there'll be an Isle of Wight invasion! I live here and can I recommend that any one who is going via Red Funnel book as early as possible as the pricing structure is like the airlines now in that the first few cars booked on each boat go at a cheaper rate. There are four pricing levels for each sailing and this means if the boat is busy then then any last minute bookings will be much more expensive than they would have been if booked earlier. I know as I work for Red Funnel! Book now....

You'll find loads of Skodas on the Island and also loads of Fabia VRS's. I'm actually selling mine if anyone is interested , I came on to put a classified ad on the site. Don't really want to sell it as I love it but I have a big overdraft I want to pay off - you guys coming is going to be a bit of a sickener in a way, but I will buy one another day! Any one interested give me a call on 01983 299025.

Have a good time on the day - good pubs on the Island for grub and beer are the Spyglass at Ventnor and The Folly at East Cowes but plenty of other places too. I didn't go much on the Wight Mouse Inn at Chale when I last went so you might want to avoid (poxy miniscule portions!). If it is cold beware icy/greasy roads can be treacherous here especially early morning.

Cheers

Ian

I presume on sat we are all going to meet somewhere... i know i'll be seeing jason for the 9:30 crossing from Southampton to Cowes but thats as far as it goes for now...

Im also going to be on the 9:30 Ferry :D

Not sure what everyone's plan is, and if breakfast will have been consumed, but I propose first to find a decent greasy spoon cafe for a good fry-up. This will probably mean lunch can be skipped, and by the time we find one it might BE lunchtime. ;)

Then we skip down the east side of the island, down that road everyone's been on about - maybe stopping at the Blackgang Chine Dinosaur place that I remember visiting when I was about 8 years old.... I expect it will be shut for Winter.... Then down to the south, up toward the Needles, and generally getting lost. Maybe stop in a pub for early evening refreshments before heading for the 8.30 ferry back to the mainland. (or earlier one if it gets a little boring - I'll just keep driving. :D)

take it we can just jump on an earlier ferry back then even if later tickets are booked?

I believe so. If they have space I don't see them being any worse off if we wish to retreat back to the mainland, after the failed takeover invasion. ;)

Lol! I'll bring my combat gear.... shall we fit smoke to the petrols amung us :D

Jason, the 'milly road' runs from the southern point up to the needles.

You could get brekkie on the ferry, it's not that great but it's food if your pushed for time. Don't know of any greasy spoons I could recommend but, in East Cowes is a Brewers Fayre pub over looking the marina, the food is nice for a Brewers Fayre and you can sit in relative comfort and have a nicer breakfast than a greasy spoon.

It's about a 3 min straight forward drive from ferry and plenty of parking, nice decked area looking over marina if it's sunny

Let me know if you want directions

Ferry food sounds good! Means more time for driving and exploring on the island itself. What's the speed limit on there? Is it more or less like the mainland? 60mph unless signed otherwise?

Must remember to get a roadmap off the ferry too. Printed one off the web last night and it was rubbish - threw it straight in the bin.

Yes, 60 mph unless otherwise stated, keep an eye out for mobile speed traps, although Saturday isn't generally when the serious speed merchants are about.

excellent... so blue, yellow and silver fabs.. what others have we got? need some octys and superbs on show

You never know, Velma may make an appearance as it seems her owner has that day off from work after all ;)

4 people you've done well

Sorry :o

I would come if I had a swmbo, quite like the IOW

Possibly day trips in the middle of Winter aren't such a good idea usually. I'm still going to enjoy it - I was prepared to go on my own if I had to. Taking a mate and his swmbo along for the drive and the ferry ride.

I would come if I had a swmbo, quite like the IOW

James, what difference does having a girlfriend make to if you come or not?

Dunno, I think it could be quite depressing driving down by myself tbh

I'd be there if I wasn't under curfew - its my 21st birthday weekend - thought it would be a good day. :(

I thought adulthood started at age 18? :P
