Not much different to the 7 is it?

They were building up to the MK8 in 2017 but then there were 'circumstances outwith their control',  so there is a Face Lift but they choose to talk about a Mk7.5.

I think in the automotive industry they call it "incremental improvement"(subtle) which in principal is what has happened to the Golf mks over the last 40 years plus.

Don't forget that VW also launched the GTI Clubsport (limited edition) and GTI Clubsport S (VERY limited edition) - but with much acclaimed over the last year or so.

I would guess you could say the same for most if not all global automotive  manufacturers.

However, more major changes seem to take place about every 4-5 years.
