Front and rear windows misting up!

Featured Replies

Went on an airport pickup last night and with the air damp and lots of mist etc assumed the air con system would clear the mist off the inside if my windows! However I noticed that even after 40 mins motorway driving with the system set on "Auto" at 20 degrees the mist still was in the corners of my front windscreen and all over inside if the back. All my previous cars Air con systems have cleared all of this but for some reason the Octy still has misty windows with air con on! I read somewhere that the humidity sensors can make a difference if the setting is changed on vcds. Does anyone else have this issue?

Hit menu or set-up on the climate control switch. Is it set to low? Low really isn't up to much, as is eco on the system.

The profile is set to medium! Should it be set to high?

Have you cleaned inside of the windows recently? Lots of climate control usage and some other activities ( like smoking ) can get inside of the windows very greasy.

Yes I clean regularly, I just don't get why it steams up so easily in the Octy

Have a check of the Spare Tyre well and see you do not have any H20 gathering in there.

As well to get the interior really dried out if your A/C and drainage is all working OK.

You will be as well to get some moisture absorbing packs (Anti Mould) in the cars as the winter comes on.

(or the cheap version, a yogurt carton with dry salt in it and cling film over with some pin holes.)

I would say something is wrong with your climate system or you have a leak somewhere causing a lot of moisture in the cabin.

My climate system is set in "Auto" at 23° with AC always enabled & profile set to "light".

I didnt have any problems with misting of the windows or cooling/heating of the car. I've had the car 1.5 years so far.

However, I do have the heated front screen which is also set to "automatic".

I would say the climate system in the Octy is one of the best I've used for not needing to change any of the settings during winter/summer.

The only problem I found for the first 6 months or so was that the chemical release from the plastics meant I needed to clean the windows every 2 weeks or so.

But after that, it has settled down now.

Never had mine set that high, usually 18.5 - 19.5. Clears instantly aircon is on, whether it's a cold 05-00 or late at night. I do normally have the side face vents open ans pointing out. Saves getting a direct facial blast.

First port of call for me would be a the dealer.

Do you have a sunroof? If so the drain holes can block and the car slowly fill up with water. Happened to me - took a year to dry out fully with mechanical and chemical aids.

Skodas have crap heating systems full stop. My mk2 was terrible fitted those bags that soak up damp all around the car. Never did cure it, wait till winter comes.

Saves getting a direct facial blast.

Thanks for replies I have it booked in for tomorrow I'll check with the dealer!

Mine used to steam up a lot, but then we got a house together......

You say it was on Auto, was AC enabled as well and all of the vents open?

I'm on my second O3 and have not suffered any issues with misting up in over 35k miles.

Virtually every hatchback I've owned, be it Vauxhall,Rover,Skoda have suffered from really bad condensation on the rear window during the winter months. some had aircon some not.

The only time I couldn't clear a front screen turned out to be the heater matrix water leak.

Yes a/c was on as well I've turned it up to high now and it does seem better!

If you do a lot of miles it worth changing the pollen filter more often, as when they get dirty the airflow is restricted. Think Skoda only recommend changing every 2 years.

My Mk2 did that. Mk3 better. Main issue on Mk2 was the rear screen wash pipe was leaking. Check all the carpets in the boot are dry after using rear screen washers.
