Bonnet Lifters

Featured Replies

Well I can't seem to find anything on a search, but has anyone fitted a bonnet lifter to the MK III Octavia yet?

The normal bonnet support arm seems to be right in the way for filling up the screen wash :(

Seems a bit exteme when you can just get a funnel for 50p from Tesco's

They look cool though :)

Superskoda sell them, plenty of us have fitted them.

I'd probably partake in the group buy to be honest.

I had it on my A3 and while it's not a big thing, at a low cost it's a nice feature when checking the car over.

In terms of the two kits, the millotek keeps all the original screws in, which surely has to be better, although I guess you could also argue that adding a few mm of metal in doesn't help in other ways.

I guess it depends what the bolts are for and if the structure they hold in is any way connected to the crash protection.

I have the superskoda ones they do work OK but I have to give the bonnet a fair raise before they take over and it will slam hard if i dont help jt down. those milotek ones do look like they would fit better and probably cost more due to the mount plates which will allign the ball joints properly unlike the superskoda one which has the wing mounted balljoint vertical not horizontal so is trying to pop it out of the socket when the bonnet is raised

Different cost for different R&D

I'm not knocking superskoda stuff but a lot of the stuff you can it made to a slightly cheaper budget. Not a bad thing just worth noting when ordering stuff.

I haven't seen the other brand but the superskoda one seems to reduce the bolt size compared to the one it replaces. Does anyone know if that could cause an issue?

Installed the Superskoda dampers today.

Installation was a breeze but you'll need washers for the screws since they aren't included.

OT, also installed their rear sill covers.

Will post some pictures of my mods later, been quite a few already  :D

Haha I was being slightly sarcastic as the last one didn't go too well with Keechy disappearing after we paid him!

I'm sure we all learned a lesson though there and it shouldn't happen again...

Wow that was useful.

If I do get a MK III in the end, I think I'll probably consider this and may try and organise a GB on the millotek kit.

Not with the right size washer on there, that isn't supplied with kit oddly.

You don't get a bonnet lifter?...................MK7 Golf has them as standard......................

oh well another reason why the VW costs more then........... :D

Quite surprised by that too, thought it was common on most new cars! Even our 2005 Golf has them!

Yeah so did my A3. I don't usually care, but the screenwash thing while only tiny means it's worth a tiny spend on it.

I've fitted the Superskoda lifters and they work perfectly, however they don't come supplied with any washers so some s/steel penny washers for the wing bolts and 2 thin washers on each bonnet fitting do the job perfectly. I'll post up some photos.

Bolt thread size are the same so they are relatively easy to install.

£40 is good value as they look decent quality.

I got spare bonnet lifters. Whoever wants them can have them for £20. Pick up only Manchester.

Forget the bonnet, when will Octavia have soft closing doors?

Looking at ordering the Superskoda ones, but not got the car yet :D  Does the vRS come with "pedestrian active hood protection"?

Also, whilst I'm at it, does the vRS come with LED reg plate lamps or do I need to get me some?

Cheers!

You need to buy the LED number plate lights and you might need to have the coded in as well.

Some do, some don't. I bought some (from Superskoda) for the previous car, but never fitted them, I don't know if they need to be coded in or not.

No LED plate lamps. Got myself some of these.

Thanks, so they are sealed units then? Or can I fit Canbus compatible LED bulbs?

Anyone know re 'active hood protection'?

Call International Rescue for hood protection.  ;)
