How many 3.6 V6 Superbs are there

Featured Replies

Now that the 3.6 is now a discontinued model does anyone know how many had been registered in the UK and how many are currently being enjoyed in the wild.

I know I enjoy driving mine and from the few members on here with them they are universally praised.

I'd love a 3.6 V6 but don't like the Road Tax

Looking at the information I use at work, there are about 200 registered in the UK up to about March 2015

I'd love a 3.6 V6 but don't like the Road Tax

And the fuel cost

And the fuel cost

Fuel I'm not botherd about as I only do 5K a year. It's the £400 + Road Tax that scares me

That is also keeping me from Buying a Jaguar XF 3ltr V6 Petrol.

It's an excellent car, silky smooth gear changes (if you notice the changes).   Engine is a mouse or a monster depends on pressure of right foot.

Mpg is low compared a diesel but at a constant speed of 65 mph on cruise control (very difficult !) its very reasonable for size of car.

Stop start town driving Mpg is very poor but atleast youl get out of town quicker  .

Road tax for the FL is currently £290.00 a year,a significant reduction from the pre FL models. Maybe there is a cheat emission situation here !. (but don't tell anyone).

It's just a nice practical car with the get up and go similar to Usain Bolt  .

Ps car has earned lots of nectar points.

remap your octavia probably as quick or qiucker than both superb and jag and plus better on juice

Shame it's no longer made......progress?

I am considering the 2.0Tsi 280ps Superb 3 when I replace my current Superb... NOT because of the issues of recent ;) I would have a 190ps diesel no problem, just think the 280ps petrol would be a great car...

Would be an interesting comparison to hear from someone who has owned a 3.6 and moved onto a 280. The 3.6 was always the car with that bit of wow factor for me.

I've gone down the remap road, & I could probably stay close to a V6, but it's 4wd would give much better traction from a standstill, & it would sound so much nicer.

(I still miss my 3.0V6 Mondy.............)

I'm hoping the next time I come to change cars there will be suitable second hand Superb V6's although there's only ever a handful for sale on Autotrader.  I assumed the V6 was just for smoothness and refinement but I thought it sounded fantastic when revved and I particularly love how subtle the car looks.  The VED and mpg don't look much worse than my current car (which doesn't sound great nor is particularly fast) although I'm not sure how the long term running costs are with that big V6 and auto box.

The torque output of the V6 is about the same as the CR170 (350 Nm), and they come with the same DSG gearbox AFAIK, so it's not likely to be any less reliable than this model and there are plenty of them around.

The 3.6 engine is a proven lump and the last of a well developed line that goes back to the late 90's V5 unit in VW's.

For me its the German equivalent of the last-of-the-line straight six 3.2 Jaguar lumps as fitted to the x300 model (before the ill fated v8 Nicosil units) and the Japanese Nissan Q35 lump (3.5 V6 as fitted to 350Z etc.) i.e. a fantastically smooth and well honed unit that was developed over a long time.

The 3.6 is at its full potential in current form - tweaked in the Passat R36 and again in the Porsche models where it was used. Chain driven, rarely stressed (as you dont need to thrash it to the redline to get good performance) and by all accounts very reliable. There is also a margin of 'upgradeitus' in it as it has been de-tuned for the Superb. Saving my pennies to do this at some point....

If you are not sure, try one. Its not everyones cup of tea; its not a diesel or a 1.6 16v screamer....buts it's awesome and suits the big Skoda very well I think and the 4WD with DSG is the icing on the cake.  ;)

I know this thread is 18months old but I've just bought a 10 plate V6 superb and drove it back from Gt. Yarmouth to Rochdale in just over 4 hrs it never missed a beat scared the crap out of me when I slipped it in to sport to overtake a line of traffic and put my foot down it launched like a rocket, the most fun I've had with my clothes on. The 280 might be faster and more economical but you don't get that V6 feel.

Or that v6 sound :)

True very true

I have now had the 3.6 FSI Superb for 7 months and have done 7000 miles since. It was a pre-owned buy for me meant to (somewhat) replicate the experience of driving another 4.2 FSI engined RS5 that I own. I cant take out the 4.2 FSI for my weekday shuttles, so the 3.6 fills in its shoes for city drives.

The 3.6 FSI hasn't disappointed. On the contrary it has surpassed my expectations and I do think of it as muscle car that offers a nice blend of premiumness. So much so that I have started taking it alomg with me on driving holidays. The DSG on Sports mode is something to be experienced and I am fond of the taut handling (which is uncharacteristic of a vehicle of its proportions) thanks in no small measure to the extra low Ground Clearance. I've had it drift around curves on mountain roads with lots of curves.

Oh yes..lest I forget, the start-up rumble from the V6 NA engine has a sense of occassion to it.Reminds me of an era gone by. Am I glad I got hold of one while they were still available?!

Well, I like my dishwashers then

My 1.6 Greenline sounds like an electric whisk so I wouldn't fret
