VRS230 or 220?

Featured Replies

Was all set to place an order for the 230 as the brokers deals made it a no brainer over an equally equipped 220. Unfortunately cannot secure as good a deal now as they have all been pulled by Skoda! So what is essentially the same car bar the front diff, is it worth still considering the 230??

I wanted a 230 - went into the dealer but unless your buying cash it's no good.

230 = 9.9% apr

220 = 0% apr + good discounts available

You could spec the 220 up to 230 level and it would be cheaper if financing, but you don't get the extra HP (neither here nor there) and you don't get the diff.

I really wanted the diff but when I looked into it in more detail, the diff does make a huge difference but only when really pushing it.

A car with the diff pulled a 0.5km lead on the nurburgring, but that's over 13 miles and it's at the limit. How much would you actually notice it on the road under normall diving (90-95% of the time)?

In the end I went for a 220 DSG and spec'd it a little - cant wait until feb :-)

Sadly the 230 is poor value for money at this time. I believe the 230s are not selling as well as expected.

May end up doing the same...

It wasn't poor value until they pulled the deals!!!  Arghh.  I can still grab one spec'd a little for £25k but is £2k more than a similar spec'd 220...less the diff, 10bhp, electric drivers seat, black tailpipes and logos.  Really wanted the diff though!! Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...................

If you are buying with cash and can attain a decent broker deal then the 230 is a good value proposition. The extra power is hardly near nor there but for the VAQ diff and the extra kit such as heated leather memory seats and dimming folding mirrors its good value. Sure it costs in excess of £2k to add this to a regular car.

On finance the regular car makes alot more sense.

Agreed...didn't think you got folding door mirrors though???????

My 230 estate has got them.

I would not have bought the 230 on finance given the current deals that are available, I would have got a 220 instead.

That's good to know as I avoided including them in my options to keep cost down. :-)

Sadly this is exactly the same Mercedes did on the C-Class hybrid. Corker of a deal until they withdrew all support. The lucky ones that managed to get the deal are very lucky.

I would be patient, things may change in December.

You reckon??? I am becoming a little impatient now, I must admit. Being pondering for a while, so long I obviously missed out!! Am off tomorrow for more test drives so will see what happens.

I must be one of the lucky ones who got a 230 on 0% !

The dealer must have taken the hit on that, like they do on all the 0% deals

Fair play, you done good there! Did they offer you a decent price too??

Indeed you do....the proviso on having electric seats here in the UK (for reasons unknown) is that you have to also spec leather, seat heating and folding/dimming memory mirrors as well. The memory mirror of course being part of the electric seating option (though memory mirror is fitted as standard on Mk7 Golfs with folding mirrors but they get no dimming option). So the 230 comes with that as standard.

I have my suspicions for reasons of cost Skoda only make the electric seats with leather covers...also another means for them to clobber you for the cost of leather on top. Not sure if cloth leather vRS's on the continent can have electric seats alone?

Got offered 0% finance and £1k deposit contribution on a 230 today but no discount on RRP, just didn't appeal to me compared to a cash deal elsewhere I have been offered! :-(

Unless they have changed it, you can specify folding electric mirrors without the electric seat option. Which is what I have done for a future car.

£24.2k for a manual 230 on C2C.

£24.2k for a manual 230 on C2C.

They haven't changed that online yet. I have been to them and they cannot honor that price...they quoted "there is a glitch in our system"!!!

Sorted a deal on a 230 Estate! Went for the manual...still uncertain whether should have gone for DSG instead???

Delivery March 2016, excited is an understatement!

suppose it all comes down to price, i went for a 230 but as a cash buyer i didnt look at the finance. As a car thought its great, absolutely love it and although ive never driven a standard vrs my octavia 2 vrs was no where near as grippy as the 230 and with a bluefin remap wasnt as quick as the vrs 230 is either.

I got a cash deal on the 230. I intend to get the DTUK box soon after.
