Sorted a deal on a 230 Estate! Went for the manual...still uncertain whether should have gone for DSG instead???

Delivery March 2016, excited is an understatement!

Nice. This is essentially the spec - same colour as well - that I am looking at after the current PCP deal ends.

This is PROVIDED THAT there's a 0% (or 2.9% or similar) finance deal available (and of course that they don't discontinue the car in the intervening period!). I really like the look of the 230 and unlike some on here I do think it's a decent value upgrade on the 220 even solely on the basis of the extra trim, posher alloys etc. However ramp the interest rate up and of course the 220 becomes by far the more sensible option on a non-cash deal.

I think you'll be glad  you stuck with the Manual....  The DSG is good but for me it felt like an age shifting but I am use to the DSG7. A plus point is the manual is quicker to 60 by 0.1 sec : D and lighter.

Be interesting to see an actual comparison, I think in the real world the DSG would pip the manual off the lights to 60

Agreed, I wanted everything that's on the 230... leather, heated seats, full black pack etc, and is cheaper than speccing out a 220 the same.  Plus you get the added bonus of the front diff, which to me is a massive bonus!!

Cheers, I hope so too!!   :D

I think too much is being made of the HP increase (which is negligible) in comparison to the front diff - which I can see being genuinely useful in 'real world' conditions.

Re DSG v manual I'd imagine the difference in acceleration is way more to do with the skill of the driver than the weight of the box / quoted 0-60. As vtec to vrs says the DSG is likely to be quicker in real-world terms owing to the fact that shifting / selecting the right RPM in the manual, unless you're Jackie Stewart, will consume a whole lot more than 0.1 sec from a standing start. Especially (a) in a car fast enough to exaggerate the difference and (b ) where, like me, you are a total short-shifting pansy.

However that's fine by me as I don't really like auto gearboxes and the in-gear grunt is what I really value (for motorway driving etc)
