So a little bit of festive fun going on in our new house for Christmas 2015.

 

Thought to share with you folks - you might enjoy it along the way.....

 

SWMBO has taken a real interest in detailing this year and my indepth research on different products/releases.

So - bravely - she has designed a nice little Advent Calendar for me to open every day up to Xmas itself.

 

Anyway - thought I would start this thread and i'll post up daily updates, and a bit of blurb on the product.

 

Some of you may have reviews/comments to add.... good or bad, so join in - but let's try keep it positive and upbeat OK.

 

So as of last night.... my selection of goodies on the left, stuff for the kids..... and choccies for SWMBO at the back!

DAY 1: Gtechniq W5 Citrus APC

 

Blurb....

pH Neutral Biodegradable All Purpose Cleaner

New biodegradable pH neutral formula removes road grime and bug splatter with ease. It can be used for many cleaning routines from engine bay degreasing to carpet stain removal and is specifically formulated to provide very effective cleansing without removing coatings, waxes, sealants, or delicate trim and chrome parts.

• Removes oil and grime with ease

A great APC! I use this a lot! Never needed to try anything else. Nicely priced in 500ml. 20:1 is my preferred ratio & works on almost everything! Great first day present!

DAY 2:  50cal Ambush Superfoam

 

50cal Website Blurb....

 

Developed with the latest surfactant technology available and sourced from naturally derived precursors when available, this new long cling foam is unsurpassed by its dwell time and cleaning ability. It is optimised by use through a dedicated foaming lance head at the highest pressure setting available on the pressure washer. When calibrated correctly it will produce a thick mousse like foam which adheres to vertical surfaces for up to 30 minutes. This is as close to a ‘touch less’ wash as you will get and it will not degrade any prior surface treatments. 

It has a built in wax and dewatering aid to further help the rinsing of the product from the vehicle. It works extremely efficiently on the removal of break dust and road film on wheels thus potentially rendering the need to use a secondary alloy wheel cleaner unnecessary. We recommend using a starting dilution of 2-3 inches into a 1lt wash bottle, topped up with ideally deionised water that’s attached to the foaming lance. Cheers Karl - it's a brand I have been dying to try since Mark (O.C.D.) recommended them and he rated them very high indeed.

 

I now have the SF, Glaze and Wax from 50cal as a sample pack to test out - so pretty happy with that! 

That'll be a good mornings testing for you!

I'm getting into cleaning, got an Octavia & 2 push bikes which need a lot of attention this time of year, so it will be good to see what samples you get. Might give me some idea's on what to buy as it seems a bit of a minefield as to what is "best".

Seems that I may have mentioned Gtechniq at some point?

 

I've had a few people ask about using ceramic paint coatings this past year...

 

So I best give them a try!!!

The SiRamik products sound really appealing & very easy to use aswell.

Watched a few videos on ceramic application and some look quite a challenge!

Although the Gtechniq ceramic coatings are very well spoke of by a lot of top detailers & the accredited bunch too!

Well - Shaun has given me enough info on SiRamik to convince me - that's for sure.

His new car was fully sealed when new and looks absolutely stunning everytime I see it!

 

I did get some info from a friendly local detailer that Gtechniq have been more troublesome.

Seemingly, to keep up with production capacity, the manufacturing process has changed a bit.

Therefore.... some of the paint coatings have "allegedly" become a bit more problematic.

 

In saying that - I haven't used them extensively - so can't comment/confirm for sure.
