Shortly ordering new vRS estate DSG TDI, what extras?

Featured Replies

Hi all!! I opted out of the work company car scheme two years ago in exchange for the £500/month allowance. So, I bought my trusty Altea 1.9 TDI off the lease company for 4k and have saved all the allowance as well as the extra off the fuel expenses. Now the Altea has done 170k, its time to change before it starts costing me money - must say, its been perfect and still drives great.

So, its going to be an Octy vRS TDI DSG estate in race blue with the following:-

Electric/adjustable/heated/folding/auto dimming mirrors
Black design package plus
Leather/heated seats
Panoramic roof
Variable boot floor
Canton sound system
Columbus sat nav
Front/rear parking sensors
Adaptive cruise
Intelligent light assist/high beam control
Electric tailgate

Winter pack
Detachable tow bar
Spare wheel

Questions I have are: Anyone had bad experiences/issues with any of the extras? Can any of the above (obviously where applicable) be activated via VCDS rather than paying more from the dealer? Any other recommendations or comments?

1st new car I have ever bought having had company cars for years and I do 30k pa so I want it to be special!!!

Cheers all :-)

nice spec :)

Unless things have changed this can be added via vcds as you already have the hardware - Intelligent light assist/high beam control

The power boot has been problematic with seals failing but a new revised part number has hopefully fixed this.

+ one for the high beam assist activation in VCDS.

Nice spec car by the way, have you considered the VRS TDI DSG 4x4?

Very nice spec, not many more boxes you could have ticked!

The only thing I would add would be the spare wheel instead of a can of foam.

Best colour too!

(but I am biased on that one  :notme: )

Doh,

just read your list again and you've spec'd the spare  .

I'll get my coat!

lol!

Cheers all, pleased the spec comes with approval :-) Thought the light assist thing was possible to added with VCDS, thanks for the confirmation - knew about the cornering fogs but not certain on the rest.

Planning on getting the rest of the roof surrounding the glass wrapped in black plus I also like the look of the aftermarket grille with the honeycomb slots, that may come later! I like a bit of individualism!

Had some varied quotes via car brokers on line, best is a £5635 saving from www.broker4cars.co.uk coming in at £29,615. Hope my local dealers pencil is nice & sharp!!!!

Lovely extras with my fav being the Canton.

Tasty spec there, very nice.

Light assist I really like, same for the power boot. I thoroughly enjoy the Pan Sun, best extra I have.

Sunset glass would be good or is that standard now?

Sunset glass is still an extra. Worth having I reckon. Consider also:

- electric seats

- rear camera

Also, are you planning on paying outright or PCP, or other? Could be wrong, but with a discount like that i suspect it's either outright or via a 5%ish PCP. If skoda are still doing 0% PCP you might want to weigh up what that will save you over the APR you would (presumably) pay through the broker4cars deal

Crew protection with rear airbags, side impact videos are Fn frightening, as the driver you've got 5 airbags. I didn't wanna walk away from an accident ALONE.

Quite insane that things like that are optional in the UK.

Doing 30k miles a year and getting expenses per mile, the lower mpg of the 4x4 doesnt make financial sense for me plus its more expensive and with all that spec, its expensive enough already, lol!

Sunset/privacy glass is part of the black pack+. Personally I dont see the point in electric seats, okay if its standard fit but not something I'd want to pay extra for and driven a few cars with a rear camera & couldnt get on with it!!

By the time the car will be ready to collect/be paid for, I'll have about 20k to pay down so will only have to finance 10k, PCP is a killer for me with the miles so it will be outright, probably via personal loan unless I can find a more suitable deal, open to suggestions though

I'm a bit late in replying but my understanding of PCP is that the mileage doesn't matter if you plan to buy the car at the end of the payment plan. i.e. they only care what mileage the car has if you plan to hand it back in a couple of years.

If you are adding leather, Columbus, electric tailgate etc then you should look at the Superb SE-L exec DSG

For some strange reason it can be cheaper than a well spec'd Octavia, as some things already included

Can't get the 0% PCP, but get an extra £1000 deposit contribution instead

Well I've ordered it!! Via Motor-Deal broker, 2k cheaper than the best Carwow quote and over 5k less tham my local dealer!!! Spec unchanged except the addiditon of the winter pack. Been quoted 14-16 weeks for delivery but that suits me, more time to save!!! :D

I'm making the exact same decision, love the gtd but need more room. Is motor-deal the name of the broker? I can't seem to find them. Awesome spec btw :)

Here we go fella. http://www.new-car-deal.co.uk/

Not ever bought a new car before so wanted it to be a bit special hence the high spec. Terry at New Car Deal / Moto-Deal said he hasnt ever seen such a highly specced up Octavia, lol

Read the net about them, been trading for 12 years, not read anything bad, so taking a punt. With a total saving of approaching 7k, I think its a good deal! Certainly the best deal I could find - UK supplied car, free delivery to my door!!
