I would like to share how I have been cheated by www.cars-equipment.com

I spoke to Mr Vaclav at cars-equipment and told him specifically that I wish to place an order for a paddle shift steering for my Octavia 1.8Tsi. The model number was also noted and discussed with him in detail on email prior to my purchase and he said he will take care of it and ship it as soon as I confirm.

I made the due payment and this is how it went:

Took almost 2 weeks to confirm shipment shipped. Took a total of a month to reach. And then I get the wrong part sent to me. I ordered 5E0419091AF CWE.

What he sends me is 5E0419091AF MBJ. The difference is button layout, lane assist button, which my car doesnt have and white back lit, which is green in my car.

Upon telling him all this, he gives my stupid reasons and then finally says he doesnt have time for all this and is asking me to send back the wheel for a refund.

You've hardly been cheated. You've ordered a part that didn't fit, after you bombarding him with messages he has asked you to return the part for a full refund. I fail to see the issue here...

It sounds like he had made a mistake. I'm glad he's putting it right. Keep us updated as to whether you get the refund or not. :)

You see it as a bombardment because of the snapshots taken later. He has been avoiding my messages by showing up online and not replying. Thats why it looks like I have been pushing him. My point is how do I trust that I get my money back if I send it to him now?

I didn't know there's option with white lights on steering wheel command buttons.

At least your getting a refund, legally he has done nothing wrong and is rectifying any mistake he made. If you want to avoid problems like this arising go to a skoda dealer and pay full price.

The point is not on getting a refund. Sending something back also has a cost. Not to forget time delay. PLus here they charge like 10 euros to install the wheel. Ive asked him to just send me replacement buttons, which I can easily install and send back the ones on the wheel.

Lets see what he says.

I don't think it works like that. He can't just send you buttons for a steering wheel. It's either a new unit or nothing. As for installing it, you knew the wheel was wrong yet went on and fitted it regardless...

Thats because he asked me to fit it.

Now if i remember correctly MY2016 has white button backlight instead of green?

I don't see your left side layout in the picture how is it wrong?

In my opinion I would not have posted anything before you have a refund, mainly because you do not know how the company will react.

Defiantly not posted text correspondence.

Also if you have fitted it he could say it's not in returnable condition, they can play on anything.

You a right if you have proof you ordered the correct part and I would not be happy either however posting things on forums does occasionally get back, and my point is you don't know how they will react. And you don't have your refund.

Wait doesn't he have correct buttons and light on old steering wheel? Why not use those instead? Problem solved assuming he has one still.

Risk you take when buying parts to retrofit to a car, treat them with respect and diplomacy rather than tarnishing them on a forum such as this and I am sure you'll get the desired outcome.

Naming and shaming is all well and good but you havent IMHO yet given the company a full oportunity to put things right. In fairness a refund is all he needs to offer you.

Well, I can only wait and watch. The steering works and was fitted on his instructions.

As for the buttons, the paddle shift buttons are different inside as they have additional connectors. I did think of that but did some reading and found out that they differ.

lets see what he replies. Ive asked him for just the buttons as they are interchangeable.

+1

Next time try sending a simple email outlining the problems. Instead of what seems like loads of text messages. You both end up confusing each other. Certainly seems like that to me as you at times start talking over each other, so to speak. Plus if you know it's the wrong part and has the wrong buttons, you don't go and fit it. If he asked you to jump off a cliff, would you?

You explain simply and politely in an email.

No wonder he eventually said he hasn't got time for it. Most others would have said the same thing, their phone beeping every minute with another message containing a few words.

The guy is perpetually online every fifteen minutes but refuses to read and reply. My texts were basically to get him to give me a few minutes to atleast discuss and come to an amicable solution. Anyways, lets see what the outcome is on waiting. Not that I am expecting much, since he has already tried to make me keep it.

I have sent him a short email asking for him to help solve my problem. Lets see.

I have bought a few things from Cars-Equipment and he has sent me the wrong stuff too. It is annoying and wastes time to send stuff back, but he always sorted the issue either by sending the correct items or by a refund.

To slate him as a cheat is unfair, work with him to resolve the issue

If you agreed the correct part number by phone and email and he sent the wrong part after a 1 month wait then he is a PITA.

I finally got him to respond and he has agreed to ship out the buttons for me to replace. I guess I did react a bit too soon. My apologies to all.

At times you were sending loads of short texts to try and explain what one email would do. Its only at the end you keep bombarding him.

Oh, and just because he shows as online, it doesnt mean he is constantly looking at his phone waiting for you. Crikey, you act like he is your wife.

Some people have a life outside looking at their phone, even if it is connected to the internet at the time.

Now he could well be a con artist, I dont know, but that doesnt get away from the fact you have gone the wrong way about it, and if you keep on, expecting him to reply within 30 secs all the time, he is eventually going to tell you to go take a run and jump

To be fair, if you'd sent me that many messages between 0 and 15 minutes apart, i'd tell you I didn't have time for you either. Regardless of blame, he's likely got many other things to do e.g. running his business, so cannot answer one person all the time. IMO it's a little unreasonable bombarding someone like that.

Anyways, glad you got it sorted in the end.

  • 5 months later...

Vaclav has a uncomfortable tendency not to reply when he has delivered non-matching goods, like in my case error warning cancelers to Octavia 3. They would've fitted, if my car was last decade VW, but not this make he stated they'd fit.

As a resolution he suggested soldering the wires directly (no thanks) or use of abicos etc (no thanks) as the car is still under warranty. He agreed to supply matching products, but after myself sending them back to him, no replies to emails what so ever after that.

I strongly recommend to consider if his service is worth loosing your money. Definitely I will not return as a customer despite if he delivered eventually the goods he has invoiced me 42€ of...

I hope you get it sorted. I'm really sorry if this sounds harsh, but I have very little sympathy for your method of complaint. Pick up the phone and call the seller next time, doing it all by text is impersonal and can look like harrassment which I'm sure wasn't your intention.
