So it's 4am... The three amigos project is born.

So it's 4am, I've got three images running around my wetware, how do you "sudo rm -rf /" your brain at 4am anyhow?

That's a little techie joke right there... *cough* ok right then.

So why three amigos... three works for me at least on many things, I'm a climber, there are a few three 'peak' (mountain) challenges, there's at least 2x 3 peaks I know of, probably another somewhere. 3 classic books, classic, hard & extreme rock climbs... so why not do a three drives :)

The three amigos in my vision are actually the three faces of the MKI, MKII and & MKIII Octavia vRS. Although also it works for fabia and superb, so another three, gimme strength.

The three peaks I mentioned above also happen to exist in Wales, England and Scotland, namely, Snowdon, Scafell Pike and Ben Nevis, our high mountains. Also a location of some of this countries best driving roads.

THE GLUE

So... I thought hang about it's also the whole 20yrs octavia thing, some of the best hills, oh and roads in both those areas.

So how about a little video montage of the cars in the locations on the iconic roads, one for each area. So MKI Wales, MKII Lakes and MKIII Scotland or whatever/however they lie/available on the ground. I can borrow ( maybe) a vRS230 ;) Yes! That and Scotland with several Jerry cans in the boot crossed my mind more than once.

HELP...

So thats great, I have a goPro and a SD card looking forlornly at me... Maybe you do too?

I don't have any video editing skills or really time to spend hours editing video not knowing wtf I'm doing. I'd like to learn.

APPEAL...

Anyone fancy collaborating on a project to shoot/edit drive a film about three amigo Octavia's based in Wales, Lakes and Scotland.

I can provide accommodation ( sleeping bags in historic mountain huts ( roadside ) ) in all three areas and fuel, although I'll have to buy some jerry cans.

I've got a few top roads marked out, again iconic roads of each models time. e.g. MK 1 the evo triangle was all the rage, must be a similar one for lakes and the scottish roads are a plenty, military road cairngorms is gaining popularity.

So if you're read all that and gone eh... sorry. It's a 4am mash up of a clint eastwood / morricone idea, ruined by the intrusion of chevy chase in the mid 80's, a bit of the italian job without the trauma and three cars filmed on three mountain roads.

Just need the brains and skills people to help me :) I'll throw in a guided* walk/scramble up the mountains too :)

Who is up for it? Whatever 'it' turns out to be, it will be fun :)

We could premier it at the festival in July ;) I think there might be a screen there ;)

*guided as in mates day out, not insured, I'm not a mountain guide, I do wear an orange hat though.

That's probably the most useful thing I can add.

What you could do...

3 mks of superb up one peak

3 mks of Octavia up peak 2

3 mks of Furby up peak 3

That kinda gives you a trifecta

or you take one of each up each peak..

My heads spinning with all that ATM... And it's not even 4am...

You need a sewer in italy and 3 citi-go surely?

I used to own a MKI fabia & regularly did the cairngorm roads as local.....

Now on the darkside with a MK7 Golf estate.....

If you need a hand & if I'm free give me a PM...

PS I do mountaineering also & have done all the three peaks

Are you have three people in a car, do they drive a third of the way to the first mountain in a Fabia (scarfell) & then swap to the MK2 version, then a MK3 version. Then after they climb the mountain , they get in the next model (Octavia) MK1, then drive a third of the way & swap over to a MK2 version....to Snowdon...then the suburb to Ben Nevis.....

Or do you drive the MK1 versions on the way to scarfell, the MK2 versions to Snowdon, etc.....

Wasn't a planned traditional three peaks weekender. Probably more likely over a series of weekends maybe even months ;) Other than the MKIII, the MKII and I will need to be somebody local to the region. Should be easy as plenty still in use around those areas :)  The peaks also would purely be for fun and natty background scenic shots featuring grit and determination. Actually thinking a few shots of Grib Goch, bif of climbing on scafell and prob views from over tower ridge.

Anyhow the first car is booked, a 230 vRS for June end of... It seems logical to hit Scotland for that being the pinnacle of UK mountains/roads ;) Also helps it's longer days so I can maybe get up the Ben and down while capturing some views.

I've no idea how it will go, I'm thinking remote highland roads jump out set up camera and then drive past :) Or have a touring weekend invite a few and capture all and sundry at various points between cafes...

Mixing it all up later to make something of it.

I'm up for lending a hand if needed. I've got a GoPro and a suction cup for the exterior, so can follow the chosen cars for some on the move video shots.

Do you mean 1st-4th July as you said you could get the vRS230 at the end of June??

Might need to get a shifty on with putting my wee furby back together. 256 rear brakes and new intercooler pipes or a front mount which fits behind the crash bar is all I'm needing now and then its piccys strip build more piccys and we re all good. Can get the RARB and remap later. Provided all is well on that front then Stirling is a possibility for me.

Had a few things crop up before hand, funerals, bank stuff urgh. Then the day before the test, the car planned was replaced. So I cancelled. Then one turned up :D

So I've opted to do some other stuff with it. I still see this coming in, but not quite as I saw it at 4am ;)

I was in Stirling on the 2nd, was keeping my eyes peeled for a 230......
