Your Columbus is fine, just a later version with the upgraded fascia. Nothing scary going on at all with how it's behaving or what it looks like.

Do you get an oblong box message saying.....system initialising'  when this happens?

 

I have timed it, and it does taker approx 30-40 seconds to start up, but it only happens randomly, albeit virtually every day at some point

 

Yep, we do indeed and yes, it can take a while.
