Broker orders cancelled by Skoda UK

Featured Replies

I am in the process of getting a Superb through Carfile. Once i confirmed I was serious in getting a car they passed my contact details over to a dealer and since then I have only been in contact with that dealership via phone and email.

In total I had 3 emails from Carfile. One asking if I was serious about my enquiry, one to say they would forward my details on and the third to say they had and I should hear from the dealer soon. Very strait forward and easy.

The Carfile dealer quoted me a good price that my 2 local dealerships said they were not prepared to match or get anywhere near so I ordered the car from the dealership about a week an a half ago. It will be a bit of a trip to collect the car, but the saving was worth it.

I also looked at NCD and UK Car discount. They were both cheaper than the Carfile dealer, but as I wanted to get finance buying from a dealer worked out better value as the interest rate is lower. I also was not comfortable buying the car through a middleman.

So obviously early days, and I am a long way away from getting my car, but I would recommend Carfile so far as it was totally painless and dealing with a dealer over email has been a far better experience than going into a showroom.

I still have an email from UK car discount quoting me £28,206.49 for a Superb L&K 2.0TSI 220 estate with £2k worth of options from the 16th of May. Looking at their site today you cannot even order a Superb.

Thank you for that. Looks as though we are looking for a similar car, my choice is the same as you mention when getting a quote from UK car Discount. I too made an enquiry with CarFile and got a call the following day from Bellamy working out of a dealer near Nottingham, a good quote, I asked him to email or text me details of his outfit so I could check them out, he didn't get back to me.

Today I have found a dealer that will match these broker discounts, I will offer my local dealer the opportunity to match the quote, the order should be placed Monday with one or the other.

Good luck with your purchase. It goes to show that with a bit of research, reasonable discounts can be found without using a broker and something else I've been reminded of is the fact cars are dearer in the Southeast compared to the Midlands and further North. Many moons ago when I was a Ford man I use to travel from London to a dealer near Leicester that always offered prices I couldn't match in and around London.

I've sent an e-mail to Skoda UK's managing director couple days ago (very polite), no response so far, looks like they can't be bothered.

The way I see it, is can't expect instant response, probably got to gather the details of exactly who did what and when, especially as it would sound like a number of people have written on same subject. Might also need some time if looking at possible alternative options. I would think allowing few working days before posting criticism would have been fairer.

If you had got a quick reply would have been nothing more than a holding acknowledgement.

Don't give up.

I sent an email Wednesday to Duncan Movvagashi, I had an automated response within two hours with a follow up phone call the followining morning from a lady in his department. She told me this was going to be investigated, she was not going to be in Friday so would get back to me next week.

Which email address did you use?

I used duncan.movassaghi at skoda.co.uk, is it the same you've used?

Yes the same. Like I said, the lady dealing with my email (Kate) was away yesterday, hopefully you'll get a response Monday. She requested the NCD order form so make sure you keep yours safe. I urge all other affected members to do likewise, might be more productive than just sticking two fingers up at Skoda.

reading all these pages too some time. Hope you all who are affected get a resolution to this asap.

Sounds to me that NCD have breached their terms selling what should be fleet lease cars to private customers. (are all these private purchases or some form of lease ? )

I think I'm out of here, there are a selection of Volvo V60's that are giving me the wink ;-)

I have been looking at other Superbs and although there is 2nd hand S3 stock there, none of them are what I wanted and I feel like I'm being pushed into cars I don't want. The V60's aren't the most practical by far but it's something different, and something I wouldn't have looked at if this didn't happen. The cabin quality is fabulous. There are other options out there too, rich pickings for pre registered and nearly new Mazda's, BMW's and a 9 month old A4 Avant Triptronic SLine is at less money than I was paying for the Superb.

There is life after the Superb, decision day tomorrow. They may have the demand now but it's a fickle marketplace and when people turn away from a Brand they rarely go back.

All I would recommend is an extended test drive in the new v60. They look nice but the drive is a tad dull.

Ensure you go for the right spec and engine to suit your needs.

I have just received a call from the extremely helpful Kate at Skoda UK who tells me we haven't been forgotten and that the investigation is ongoing and I will get a follow up call on Thursday.

The investigation is not just into the dealings of NCD but other brokers too, I hope by opening what looks like a hornets nest doesn't result in further cancelled orders!

Kate also commented that since my communication other prospective buyers have been in contact with their cancellation issue.

More to follow.

Last week all I got from Skoda was "we don't deal with 3rd parties" response.  Hopefully this will be resolved soon,  I still want the Skoda but not having a car is having a big impact on business & family.

Do you know who gave you that response from Skoda?

It was Dean at Skoda Customer services

Thanks, good to know.

I've had no response from Skoda yet, interesting to see if they contact others on Thursday.

Who did you send your email to?

They should however as a common courtesy acknowledge yours and any other emails received.

Agree, just "we've got your e-mail" would be enough...

You could always tick the Receive Receipt notification option when sending your emails which you can print off as proof of them receiving it if you don't receive a response.

Remember; No paper, no trail!

NCD finally got around to confirming my 1.4TSI isn't coming either, it was due in 5 weeks. Not really a surprise, but I was at least hopeful. Seems one of the team is on hols so any orders he took are waiting for his return to be informed.

Have been looking at Mazda CX-5, 6 and Ford Mondeo over the last few days in anticipation of the news. Went to a broker as my local dealers are all poor, one of them sent me a best offer on Carwow £500 worse than the current Skoda offer... go figure.

I was a little seduced by the huge boot on the estate version as have young children and a dog and tend to holiday in the UK, but have decided to get a roof box opening up many more options.

CX-5 has good discounts and likely to have far better residuals, currently not inclined to give Skoda any of my cash.

Skoda make a lot of money from each sale, that's why VAG has been busy buying up other marques over the years, I didn't take a test drive or visit a dealer for anything more than a quick walk round the car in the flesh, why should I pay a private buyer tax in the thousands for someone to press some buttons on a computer, then hand over a car in 4 months.

Given that fleet cars are moving more to the self select model as companies pretend to motivate staff by company car empowerment, where do you think they get their test drive and info..... The same dealers that private buyer subsidise. Skoda even offer a fantastic business lease at around 20% less than PCP (even with the vat) for a one man band, pop in for a test drive and coffee and we'll sort you out.

We (briskoda) can typically do better than carwow prices, fully fueled with mats. I'm not a broker, just trying to drive a subtly different approach ;)

Also as it's retail, you should be able to get £500 off any price this month. Details in sig or at the top of the page :D

Very interesting update.

Got a call from Skoda UK (Kate) - she apologised on behalf of Skoda for the issue with delivery.

They investigate matter of fleet cars being supplied to the private customers, but appreciate that customers are on the right here and purchased vehicles in a good faith.

Cars in question have not been released by Skoda, they've blocked delivery while investigation is in progress, and may still be supplied to the people who've order these cars (that is if you have contacted Skoda and supplied your details).

Further information to be communicated tomorrow and update on the blocked cars issued next week.

One thing they've been interested about, was whether dealers have been in any contact with end customers, trying to resolve it from their end.
