Weber Mainfold for Favorit engine

Featured Replies

Hi All.  I am restoring a 110R and I intend ton fit the 8 port favorit engine and five speed box.  I see on the web various images where people have used the curved inlet manifold with twin 40DCOE's mounted over the top of the engine so that the radiator and fan can remain in the original position.

See https://www.google.co.nz/search?q=skoda+110+weber&start=10&sa=N&rlz=1C1GPEA_enNZ306NZ371&biw=2133&bih=1056&tbm=isch&imgil=vF43n2q9dXCVDM%253A%253BQUdAC5_PG-OEYM%253Bhttp%25253A%25252F%25252Fwww.skoda110r.cz%25252Fforum.php%25253Fthread%2525253D8402&source=iu&pf=m&fir=vF43n2q9dXCVDM%253A%252CQUdAC5_PG-OEYM%252C_&usg=__aWIEPaKmGPo4w-xCzkgeB-sq-S0%3D&dpr=0.9&ved=0ahUKEwiyjo7Pov3MAhUFmZQKHTZyCvw4ChDKNwgt&ei=FdJJV_KvKoWy0gS25KngDw#imgrc=vF43n2q9dXCVDM%3A

I have searched everywhere, but where to you get these manifolds from?

Thanks

The "banana" manifolds are for use with non-crossflow heads, so that the carb is on the "cool side" of the engine rather than directly above the exhaust manifold on the "hot side". The twin Weber setup is probably on/from an S110RS in Group 2/4 tune.

What you need is an 8-port banana for a late Estelle (presumes these are non X-flow), or to give up on the idea of going from a 5-port to an 8-port head.

Hi Ken.  Thanks for your reply post.  I really want to use the Favorit engine in my car.  Its an 8 port non-crossflow head.  I have a spare pair of 38 side drafts that I want to use and I am after 100bhp for a fast road set up.

I am after a banana manifold so that the carbs are on the cold side of the engine, but this is mainly driven by wanting to retain the original radiator set up.

So are you telling me that an Estelle inlet manifold will bolt onto the Favorit motor to provide the banana manifold for a twin weber set up?

Apparently there are places in CZ that sell said types of manifold but I have had no lucking finding anything.

Please advise.

Thanks

Ray

Speedpro do indeed sell the manifolds you are after but they are blanks as you will see when you get to the photos - which means lots of work to make them fit. Speedpro are a decent enough company I've bought a lot of stuff from them over the years but they know how to charge on the postage front and you have to pay by foreign money transfer. Realistically adding a pair of webers with linkage and manifold is going to cost £1000. Unless you are running a fairly high spec engine they won't make much difference over a single carb. You would also need to check they fit with the fan in the back of your S110r - its fairly tight in there......if you look at the exhaust manifolds Speedpro sell they sell different ones for the S series cars because of the fan. It's also worth bearing in mind the cooling provided by the rear mounted radiator is poor, hence why performance variants always relocated the radiator to the front of the car. I have heard the rear radiator will not handle a 100bhp engine which is what you would get if you did some head work on your 136 engine, matched the manifolds, fitted a decent cam like an SK6, and did some work on the advance curve.

Incidentally you know you are going to have to chop the transmission tunnel and do some fabricating to fit a 5 speed box?

Hi,

Thanks members for all of that information.   Very much appreciated.

I was aware of the speedpro manifold, but that keeps the carbs on the exhaust side of the engine where i think they will foul the fan.  I do t want to relocate the radiator to the front unless I absolutely have to.  Hence i am after he inlet manifold that paces the carbs above the cam cover as per the attached image.

All the pictures i have seen of this done look like they have used some sort of factory part.  It has been mentioned by ken that an Estelle inlet manifold is required so does anyone have a source for one of those?

Thanks

Ray
