VCDS Light Assist Mod Not Working

Recommended Posts

Hi

I've followed the instructions http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/299424-octavia-iii-vcds-adaptations-tried-and-tested/#entry3821291 and double-checked twice everything is exactly as stated but I'm getting a "Fault: Light Assist" error when I try and activate it.

The option shows up in the light settings menu ok.

MY16 march build car.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Tim

Latest 15.7.4

When was your car built? 15.7.4 was released in February, so may have newer software than the release.

Try using the Beta (16.7.0)

I completed this mod on MY16 car for another member recently with no problems. Used the Beta version of VCDS and did indicator no. of flashes mod at the same time so had to reset the factory light settings on the infotainment.

Try resetting the factory light settings via the infotainment to see if this cures:

Car >> Set up >> Factory Settings >> Lights. Reset using the prompts.

If this doesn't work, I would probably reverse all of the HBA / light assist settings back to stock and then re-try

If still having problems then post the adaptations log, so that members can see which coding has been changed.

Thanks - am going to give this another go now. I reset everything back to how it was last night.

Since I updated to the beta version I noticed another adaptation had appeared relevant to this procedure:

IDE08786-ENG116637-Assistance light functions-Menuesteuerung Fernlichtassistent IDE08786-ENG116641-Assistance light functions-Menuesteuerung Fernlichtassistent Werkseinstellung

The first one is the one listed in the instructions, but what does the 2nd one mean? Something to do with factory setting if my rubbish German is corect. Should this be used instead?

I will try to assist when I get a chance to view the log of a car that I completed this adaptation for previously (MY16 VRS) - however this will not be until mid-week.

If its of any help (probably not) I did this mod on my MY16 a few weeks ago and got a light fault at first too. Went back over the instructions and realised I'd missed a step.

After changing the missing adaption to what it should be, she's all working now.

I wrote the instructions and have done it on my MY16 car with no issues, the drop down menu in the coding bit has changed description compared to my MY14 car the screen shots are from.

The Bits & Bytes are the same though, might be worth checking that......

I think this was the step I accidentally missed, for what it's worth:

Go to controller 09 - Long Coding

Change Byte 2 Bit 0-2 to a value of 03 using the dropdown menu for models with Xenons.

Go back and read the instructions and do what they say, the coding above is incorrect. You have changed Byte 2 from 00 to 02, when it should have been changed to 01 by enabling bit 0.

Access Module A5

Go to Long Coding, change byte 2 Bit 0 to a "1"

Then clear the fault codes from 09 and A5. Make sure your light switch is turned to 'OFF' whilst you are making any changes.

When you have coded module A5 have you selected the correct setting?  On all of the cars that I have successfully coded the, the long coding has changed the 6th number from a '0' to '1'.  Your coding has changed from '0' to '2'.
