First service cost shocker !

So I've just phoned up to book my car in for its first service and nearly fell off the chair....... £235.11 for an oil service on a 2016 petrol VRS that will have done just under 10k miles.

Is that right ??

No I wouldn't have thought so. I recently had the first service on my 2016 petrol Superb 280 at a pukka Skoda dealer (Specialist Cars Aberdeen), it was £135. Around 13,000 miles.

Sounds about right to me, I work in a Audi centre & the first oil change service on a TT is roughly £250.

The fixed price quoted above officially only applies to vehicles over 3 years old, however I believe a number of people on here had no issues getting their dealer to match that on a newer car.

Yeah first service on my car (on variable) at 18,600 miles was £149.

Fact is if it is going in for a Fixed Service 9,400 (10,000) miles or 372 days or which ever comes first it is a Minor Service and not a Variable or Major Service.

So no Pollen Filter, no Airfilter, just the Oil & Filter & Fluids, & the look see and report and Wash & Vac and money for old rope.

it is not getting done as an Audi Centre.  Might get a better quality of service, actual & customer and a better price at a VW Centre though.....

A big charge for a diagnostic scan maybe, which again personally I just use VCDS ? Or does the ink used to stamp the book contain some rare earth pigments ?

The chap said the next service would be £305 for the 20k service.

They're ripping you off, go elsewhere. I never paid that much for a service on my Audi RS4!!!

I paid 2500 NOK (£238) for the first oil change (1.8TSI) last month at the official dealership in Norway. Next service which also includes an inspection will cost aprox 4000 NOK (£380).

It is Arnold Clark presumably, aka Arnold Shark?

Have a look on here http://www.skoda.co.uk/owners/service-and-maintenance/online-service-booking/online-service-booking/

Put in your reg and it will come up with the prices at Mr Shark, Inverness. When I do it for my Superb tsi 280 it offers £149 for the first service and £199 for the second service. Perhaps the Octavia vrs is more, but I doubt it.

Renton,

instead of paying for their suits and nice Demonstrators they drive take a trip out for the day or a few hours to the Victoria Garage, Maud Peterhead AB42 4NP.

Great service and people there.

I didn't say I agreed with the cost of the first oil change service at all, a full retail breaks down roughly as follows

Oil filer £10

Sump plug £3

Oil @ £15-£20 per litre

1 Ltn of screenwash £10 & then the rest would be labour approx 50mins @ there labour rate.

When doing the servicing yourself you can save huge amounts but then when you have a new car you wouldn't retain your warranty on the engine etc.

Either they are incompetent or dishonest. Take your pick!

I was paying £225 for similar oil and filter changes on my MKII VRS in 2009. However now, 3 annual services on a fixed plan is about £500.

Understood. My Roomster is 10 years old now, but for the 1st 2 years I did get Skoda to do it for exactly those reasons. It had 3 years warranty so at the end of the 3rd year I took over.

Why dont you guys buy the 3 year service pack for £479 and put it on the 0% finance?

Includes minor, major and minor service. Brake fluid change and pollen filter.

After that I'll do it myself for about £60 using genuine parts and Castrol.

I just put my details in and it offered me £149 for my 1st service & £199 for the second.

If it stays at those levels I'll be quite happy. Chances are I won't be doing the 2nd one, as that puts me over the 30 month threshold, so depending on my circumstances I could be looking at another car by then.

My first and second year services were £0  (PCP !!!!)

My first service was £109 at 7k miles it goes in on Saturday for an oil/inspection service got them down to £180 that's for a vrs diesel
