Farad Roof Bars

Featured Replies

I want to buy some roof bars for my Mk2 Fabia, but there's so many out there I was wondering if anybody has put 'Farad' roof bars on their car and are they any good? I don't really want to go to the expense of 'Thule' ones.

Hey Daffy, do you have a hatch or estate? What are you planning on carrying? I just had a look at the farrad bars they look okay probably a bit long winded to fit vs Thule or OEM. I opted for some whispbars since they were the most unobtrusive fitting between the existing roof rails instead of on top like most but it limits what I can fit on top.

Cheers, I've got the hatch without the roof rails. Planning on carrying my bikes, mostly. Ordered the Farad bars now, they are a bit more long winded than anything I've fitted before. Not than keen on the fixing kit against the metal of the car, but they all seem to be like that for the hatch. I intend to leave them on permanently too, as it's going to be a pain taking them on and off all the time, besides I don't usually do long distances, so I'm not bothered about the drag. I am concerned that they may damage the paintwork long term, especially as my car is mint with only 16k on the clock, should this worry me??

I would be a little concerned, dirt can work it's way in between the fitting a the paintwork and will rub over time (regardless of how expensive the bars are). There are two solutions for this, take them off periodically and clean or put some clear protective film on the paintwork first.

Yeah I'm a little concerned too. The protective film may well be the way to go. Thanx for the reply.
