scratch hiding pen

Featured Replies

Has anyone ever used one of those 'pens' that are meant to make scratches disappear?

Storm Doris blew a neighbour's fence panel onto my car, and a nail scratched the driver's door through to the metal.

I've only had one quote so far but it was for £260 to respray the whole door.  The scratch covers an area about the size of a matchbox, and is right down in the bottom left hand corner.

Doesn't sound like the sort of thing you would be able to remedy yourself with a pen. I'd suggest to speak with chipsaway or another company that can do a "smart repair" to the affected area. Should be do-able for about £80-100.

Masking tape along both sides of the scratch, gently apply touch up paint.

Might take a few coats.

Vote 2 for Chipsaway. I took a chunk out of a bumper once backing a bike into it. Size of the strike on a matchbox. About £100 and you couldn't tell.

http://www.chipex.co.uk/ I've used these for my old fabia worked a treat barely visible, only under some lights. Colour match was spot on ..

Yes, they are a waste of money.  Spent about £40 on products and nothing worked.  Got a smart repair done for £60.

They were only small on the door handle..

Paint is hard and designed to last.

Of course that stuff doesnt work, its probably just coloured silicones the old trick of the trade. Repair it properly yourself or via an expert.
