Advice in setting up JOM Coilover Suspension in Mk1 Fabia VRS

Featured Replies

Looking for some advice on setting up coilover suspension.

Had it fitted at the weekend, it's nothing magical, just the JOM units - they feel a world away from my old suspension!

Only problem is that i've had it front aligned and the back is horrendously out, but i understand now it needs to be set up properly by a garage that has proper corner weights to get the weight distribution right,

with that in mind does anyone have the weight distribution information for the 4 corners so that i can find someone to set the suspension up properly?

I've had it aligned twice now thinking it was just that until i was told it needs setting up properly and i've noticed the back is moving out of alignment pretty fast (in the space of one day!) despite the back not being adjustable (other than height), which i've been told could be either something not done up properly or a bush on its way out.

So turns out the rear isnt completely a coilover setup, seperate spring and shock.

Now thinking that the problem in it not being straight is down to the rear axle, which is showing to be out of alignment, but it's not adjustable at all - so it's likely the two bushes on the rear beam.  Going to look to get them changed somewhere, found them online for around £15 ea, does anyone recommend uprating these while they are being replaced or just getting any standard rubber bush?

The rear bushes are solid already and extremely unlikely to be worn out.

Standard ones are solid? I thought they were hard rubber and the superpro/poly ones were solid?

Its due to go into mckenzies in lichfield thursday for them to inspect the suspension setup as formula one have all but given up on it. Quite miffed to be honest, it drove fine for 2 years and over two sets of tyres but the first set i buy new at f1 and ask them to track and balance it, boom its never driven straight since unless you hold it straight (ignoring camber) now im led to believe the rear axle is pointing out towards the drivers side and causing the car to try and turn into the kerb all the time.

I mean they don't have any voids and there's nothing to be gained from changing them. They won't be knackered.

Ah I see! What else could it be then? It's due in McKenzie's tomorrow I'm just hoping it's not the new suspension -_- then again, I suppose if you go cheap on the suspension expect problems ! I'll see what they come out with, if it is the suspension ill buy some standard kit again unless there's something worth getting, I prefer the body roll now it's all but gone compared to before but it bangs and clatters everywhere like I'm about to turn a corner and the engine fall out. Idlings a pain as well in neutral, shakes the car now...
