Little Visitor In My Light Cluster

Featured Replies

So I'm washing the car - and this is one fly I can't get rid of. It's inside my rear light cluster.  Any suggestions on how to get it out?!?  I hate flies at the best of times.

Take the cluster out is probably the only way unless you can get a small vacuum nozzle close enough from inside?

Fairly sure I could get the cluster out easily enough. Not sure I could get the little bugger out once I did?!

I would be tempted to leave it there as a warning to other flies :D

I've privately been sent a photo of a dead parrot and offered a PX...

Anyone actually know if those units can be opened?  Or any real clue as to how the bloody thing got in there?

I'll be filing in holes I reckon...

Probably the only way to do it would be to remove one of the bulbs and tip the unit upside down.

For example, if a person was stupid enough to not correctly seat a LED reverse bulb in the cluster and then the bulb was to fall out and roll around in the cluster housing then perhaps that person could assure you that you can easily retrieve objects that have fell into the void.  I'm sure that would be the case.  :blush

For the record this person was 100% definitely not me...possibly.

I know an old lady who swallowed a fly, I don't why she swallowed a fly. I guess she'll die:ohmy:

you could try a straw with tape on the end or something similar to get in through the bulb hole?

I would be more concerned how it got in there !

The dealer ordered a replacement light cluster. Took it in. Wrong one.

Ordered another, took it in - wrong one. I became ****ed off.

Mechanic took a salesman's car and swapped them out.

Not my problem anymore. :-)

Skoda pdi checklist:

1. Ensure transit blocks are still fitted.

2. Over inflate tyres to 4 differing pressures.

3. Ensure all dead bugs are present in light clusters and on show.

4. Hand over keys to new customer.

I have a SE-L Exec I don't have the dead fly.  Must have been deleted for the MY18.

Seriously, did they really swap it under warranty?? I actually have the same issue...

They did - but it was honeymoon period. It was literally brand new. I made a joke of it, but also made it painfully clear that I found it unacceptable.

It looks to be on the inner cluster (on the bootlid)?

If so this cluster serves no purpose (other than the LED strip on high-functionality clusters) so is a sealed unit.

I reckon it is a Czech Republic fly!
