Too bloody right, I have only just got a mobex so will be in that til mine finally arrives!

They won’t even speak to me about a good will gesture until it arrives at the dealers. I upped the stakes on Friday and emailed the Exec office - apparently that helps sometimes. The normal complaint route has made no difference.

I'm not up with the lingo, what’s a mobex? I’m guessing they’ve given you a car to keep you going?

    Picked mine up today

  • So I picked mine up this morning, it’s a brilliant car love it already. Only done 50 miles and traffic was heavy but it ticks all the boxes for me.

Yeah I tried to complain to Skoda CS and they said I couldn't do any more til the end of april. So then I thought id ask my dealer if I could get anything and they sorted me our with a car.

Yeah I only read it on here what mobex is, yeah a golf gtd for now til my 245 arrives.

My dealer won’t do anything, they just pointed at CS and said they’re a franchise and not a lot they can do! I’m going in tomorrow for a test drive in a 245, so I’ll be bending their ear then. They’ve only just taken delivery of a demonstrator which they called me about and invited me for a drive - pretty much the only good thing they have done!

Well youll be one step ahead of me actually driving a 245!  I have only ever driven a 230 so I'm hoping the 245 will be worth the wait as you say!

Not sure who is still waiting, but my 245 has been sat at Emden since 29th March, closer but it’s making the wait worse - feeling rather impatient! Now on day 179 since ordering...

What dealer have you ordered from if you don't mind me asking?

Guys im really concerned here.
Had my 245 for 2 weeks now - 400 miles on the clock and the highest MPG iv gotten is 31 and that was from Milton Keynes to Oxford and back.
Around town and down the road it is coming up with like 14-19 average MPG and I swear to god, the car is sat in Eco and i am not putting my foot through the floor, anyone got an idea?

I thought after a while they would go up a bit (never had a new car) but from the last 2 pages of this thread my MPG is way way lower

Can you get your hands on another 245 to see if thats the same.  Do cars come from the factory in some sort of Transport Mode and need to be removed at the PDi Stage by the dealer or have I been dreaming again................

That doesnt sound right at all....The lowest I ever got was 14mpg and that was sitting in solid traffic for an hour and a half.

I have around 400 miles on mine now and I am averaging around 28mpg, that's with all the hills around here and some shorter journeys.  I say it go up to around 38mpg indicated on a 10 mile drive taking it easy.

15mpg seems really low especially if you're taking it easy!!?

151 days since ordering.

Still no build week!

160 days since order accepted by factory, but no build week estimated as yet.

Had mobex for a month now.

Mine is being built this week, I ordered mid October.

That does not sound right. Just had a 208 Superb and have 900 miles on it. The first tank was not great at 23mpg but seeing around 30mpg at the moment and have been up to 32mpg on a longer run. I am not hammering it but not being super eco either (my driving style has never got the best fuel economy and used to get around 42mpg on my VRS CR170 so if I can hold 32ish in the 280 I will be more than happy).

Mine should arrive at the PDI centre the day after tomorrow. How long do they usually take to turn them around and deliver? Ordered 14th November.

I've not even driven a Mk3 yet.... got to sit in a diesel one though hahaha.

On a happier note mines been built a week ahead of schedule and is enroute to the port! Should have it in 3-4 weeks id say.

Looks like there are still quite a few people with long waits, I thought mine was bad enough, I’m sorry that others are waiting even longer.

I drove the 245 today, manual no dcc and I still loved it and whilst it’s making the wait harder, it kinda helps to know it will be worth it. It just pulls away in any gear, from really low revs and I can’t wait.

I took the opportunity to quiz them on the delays and it just sounds like no one has any leverage to do anything to influence the timelines. I know it’s easy to give them a hard time (I know I have) but it must be awful to be stuck in the middle and not be able to do anything.

I've got about 4000 miles on mine now and managed 44 MPG on a trip to Leeds over the weekend. Was really happy with that.

You may just need to run-in for longer...

Did you take the test drive at Wings and if so what colour was the demo as it seems strange they have just taken delivery of a demo when customers are still waiting for their orders to be assigned a build week.

It was meteor grey, and I did comment about how did they manage to get one. They didn't really say much in response. I did notice it was an 18 plate. My only thought is that they used to have one in their showroom but the only way it could be an 18 plate, is if it was unregistered, as I saw it back in October.

Yes that does sound like the one they had in the showroom, pity they didn't let me have the car as it is the same as I ordered!

I wonder if that is the case, as they have a different VRS in the show room now, a blue one, possibly 230 but didn't look.

Relax, I remember thinking a similar thing as I got my 220 in Jan 15. Just give it some decent 70Mph steady motorway runs plus a bit of warmer weather and your Avg Mpg will rise. If you live in a town and stay there, or only do 7-8 mile A road runs, you won't get the engine warm and you only will see 30 Mpg. Mine is running 290+ Bhp since Dec and 38-40 Mpg is normal on a run. It did 43-45Mpg pre-map to Scotland and back so when I repeat the trip in the next month or so, I expect 40-42 Mpg at about 70 Mph true speed with the usual squirts to overtake and break the monotony.

Mine is over 7k and doesn't get over 20mpg until I'm out of town on the way home.... averaging about 29-30 now
