So i dont even need to service this thing potentially!!

Awesome :)

Glad a fair few seem to be keen on this upgrade too, be interesting to see how they go.  Also unlike a remap, guessing there will be a 2nd hand mkt for these boxes post removal from the vehicle so not a totally sunk cost.

If you buy a second hand tuningbox get the seller to fit it to your car as a part of the deal. Auto electrics can run for years without problems but, they do get stressed when removing/refitting & transporting. They are good quality its just a "**** happens" kinda thing, then people start downing DTUK & connecting up the wrong sensors wpn't make it work properly either.

As a secondhand tuningbox seller you shpuld be aware of these issues too.

With regards to warranty yes tuningboxes are not detectable once removed but, a log on the car will show if it has run "outside" standard parameters. Analysising that log takes a considerable amount of work to do & therefore won't be done per se. however, if you blow a turbo or an engine you are on your own.

@juan27 the 230 were stopped on a limited number basis although. some were sold by dealerships well into 2017 & therefore, some confusion exists

    Picked mine up today

  • So I picked mine up this morning, it’s a brilliant car love it already. Only done 50 miles and traffic was heavy but it ticks all the boxes for me.

there was a post going about regarding the launch control figures in relation to warranty and then it moved into the DTUK boxes stating that Skoda would be able to detect that the car was running outside of normal parameters and could then conclude that a tuning box had been in use... that's the main concern for me with it.

For those who are leasing, half the time its a guy from BCA auctions who comes round and has a once over of the car, nothing plugged in or checked to see its ourside parameters.

Guessing its different if your on a PCP deal where the car is going back and may be plugged into a computer.

Not sure on 0-60 times but they quote 320PS - Now I am not sure if I believe that or not but when I asked them they said its because the vRS's run a higher than quoted bhp from the factory.

I think you have to remove them prior to servicing but according to my 245, its telling me its not due a service until 18k miles or in 800 odd days, in which case I wouldn't even need to service it at all as my lease is 2 years

Gotta be careful of figures, not all rolling roads read very accurately but, they never seem to run under, funny that, proved big numbers & customers keep coming back.

The tuningbox certainly transforms the way the 245's performs although, good as standard they seem very refinded & after you've got used to it, almost dull. With a tuningbox way more exciting & if you throw in a Pedalbox too, you'll be hooning it everywhere wearing a 4 foot smile

Oh yes its that good but, don't expect great fuel economy with a that fun available, even Mother Theresa would be ragging it rotten

I had a pedal box on my BMW...hated the thing so I returned it!

PCP is exactly the same collection process

Everyone's entitled to their own opinion even, if I think its wrong !!!!!!!

Handy to know. I plan to hand back my qashqai prior to my delivery of my 245

Well the "old" 230 was certainly available for more than the barely six months since the books opened on the 245. They are stopping making it they just introduced a new colour?   Doesn't make much sense.

Maybe they have just filled their 2017 capacity

If you can order one today it won't be made in 2017.  This books closed thing sounds like a car salesman talking b*ll*cks to me, that would be unusual.

Think its performance depends on what you fit it to, the Mk3 had quite a lot of pedal lag (fly by wires software control issues, the Mk3 fl can in Eco be pretty **** too)

I had a pedalbox on my Mk3 & it really worked well to get a far more responsive accelerator

Time will tell

Mine was ordered yesterday, I have a screenshot from something that looks like a Skoda order system, has order number, dealer code, uk port, options, model etc so they must have been accepting orders up until yesterday?

It seems we will be seeing a few more of these on the road soon, I have not spotted once since I got interested in them.

It's been years since I have driven a 'powerful' petrol car having been riding bikes instead, my last one was an S2000.  I'm looking forward to having a practical car I can also go for a blast in while still having my other car for high mpg runs.

Well I suppose they could be stopping production to tool up for the MY2019 280 4x4 replacement, but don't hold your breath.

(PS this post is entirely speculative and has no basis in fact)

Totally true I'm afraid. It'll be built in 2018. Only a couple of months away and current wait is over 20 weeks for a factory order anyway.

Yes I have been driving in Eco and its rubbish. I now drive in individual with drive mode set to sport and the exhaust sound thing set to eco as I hate it

For the folks who have their 245 now are you getting any notable noise on shifting ie the fart/burp (haha). Haven't given it full beans yet but been up around 3.5-4k rpm and heard nothing. Any info on settings ? Not to bothered just curious

I dont get it either! Even on full chat I just get turbo noise

The reversible boot mat iv been looking at, is it fully reversible? as in, it comes out fully ect? Iv never had one so a tad confused as to how it changes (Sorry I know this is just me being stupid)

Yep, you still have the normal boot floor carpet underneath, and the reversible mat comes out completely if necessary. Rubber one side, matching carpet the other.

No wind noises from mine at all, despite my best efforts!

20 weeks.....thwt is going to drag like hell!!!

Could it just be orders in 2017 being ceased untill the new year?

Every review of the 245 that I have watched has made the DSG fart. Maybe theres been a software update or something I dont know.

The Pre FL 230's do it a lot too in standard form

No. It's due to factory having filled production for the next 20 plus weeks. Remember all Octavias regardless of spec form the whole of Europe are built on one line and new orders join the back of the queue. You can make it slightly shorter by picking less desirable options like a manual diesel but it wont make that much of a difference.
