Mk2 Octavia vrs , 2.0tdi or 2.0tfsi at the same purchase price , which one would you buy?

Featured Replies

Hello I'm looking at various Octavia vrs models , I've seen a couple for around the £3000 mark .

So let's say there are 2 to choose from

A 2008 vrs 2.0tdi with 120000 miles

Or 2008 vrs 2.0tfsi with 100000 miles .

Which one would you choose and why?

I love my 1.9tdi superbs engine but its the biggest size engine I've ever owned so don't know any different .

The highest petrol engines I've ever owned are 1.6 , a old vw golf , astra , and a vw bora.

So never had a petrol turbo engine .

In my 1.9 tdi I can put £25 of diesel in the tank and get work and short journeys done till the next week .

But I can also do the same and go from Bolton to Blackpool and back and still last nearly the full week.

Where as I remember my 1.6 petrols I would have to put a extra £20 in just to do the Blackpool trip there and back on top of the usual £25 a week normal top up .

These where like pre 2002 models , so will these slightly newer 2.0tfsi be more efficient?

Personally I'd choose the TFSI. More powerful when you want to cane it but also frugal when driven with care. My modded TFSI will do 45-50mpg on the motorway.
