Centre console rattle

Featured Replies

My S3 developed a centre console rattle, somewhere under centre speaker/windscreen vent. I rattles between 1800-2000rpm. Is there any known cure for this? It's specially annoying because this is the rpm range where DSG shifts so I get rattle on every up-shift. Dealer has already acknowledged rattle but doesn't have a clue how to fix it.

Try this, there's been a few reports of it, some have had success with a fix at the dealer's

Turn on the windscreen fan full blast and close the other vents .... do this for about 10 seconds then go back to normal.  This works for me.

Must be something to do with the fan sitting still for a while.  Once its been blasted for a bit it doesnt rattle at all.

There has been some talking about intercooler pipes. Does anybody know something about that issue? Is there any offical documentation/fix from Skoda?

I have something similar , it is driving me crazy. It was happening only when car was colder but now even when its wormed up. Rattle starting around 1000 Rpm and then sometimes when above 2000rpms on almost every up shift  I have booked appointment with my Dealer I hope they will fix it. I will let you know.

I have the same thing. 2 trips to the dealers and still not resolution. First time they moved intercooler pipes. 2nd time they said they couldn’t hear it!!! Useless.

I have a similar issue but it seems to resonate from the right hand side dash vent, above the Columbus unit.

It's a high pitch buzz rather than a rattle, almost sounds like a bee is stuck in the vent.  It starts at 3.5k revs in low gears or at 2k revs in a high gear.   I've noticed that turning the climate control up to 23+ degrees stops it from happening and when I go back to a lower temp, it starts again after a minute or so.   It's annoying as hell on a motorway trip; even the Canton can't drown it out, once I've tuned in to the noise!

My local dealer has been on a test drive with me and heard the noise and has ordered a whole vent assembly.  They're gonna replace mine and have a look behind the dash when the vent is out and 'pad it out'.  The part is on back order at the factory so it may take a while.  They've committed to it being a warranty job.

This Sportline doesn't feel as well put together as the last one.  I had zero rattles in that after a year.  I've already had to use absorber foam around some trim within the first 2k miles in this one.  If I didn't like the car so much I'd be pretty pi553d off!
