Columbus won't read mp3 ?

Featured Replies

Does the Columbus unit in a 2007 Octavia not play mp3 through CD ?

I've tried burning multiple mp3 CDs and the head unit is just sating error with CD / DVD .

Do they only read mp3 files off SD card ?

Or am I doing something wrong?

I can't think why having your mp3's on CD is preferable to an SD card but could it be that you're not finalising the CD that's causing the problem?

On the early Columbus units they had a very poor dvd drive which could be the problem. They don't like reading discs when they get older.

Its the 2007 one so is getting on abit although I would still say in a whole its a decent bit of kit .

Anyway I got a USB card reader which came with a micro SD card adaptor for £1 lol , found a old micro SD card and put loads of music on that its all worked fine and much easier .

What sort of movie files will it play I tried mpeg but didn't work

Only plays standard dvd format. So you'll need either a genuine dvd or a clone dvd in the drive for it to play films. And only plays while stationary too.
