O3 FL...has it impacted sales?

Featured Replies

Just wondering if the negative reaction to the new headlights has actually translated into fewer Octavias being sold?

@peterhardy shared this in another thread:

http://www.skodamedia.com/index.php/latest-news/skoda-achieves-best-first-half-year-in-the-company-s-history

Which seems to suggest the O3 sales were 6.5% down in Q1/Q2 2017 over 2016 and 2.6% down in June over 2016

This link however

http://carsalesbase.com/european-car-sales-data/skoda/skoda-octavia/

shows sales were actually higher in May than in May 2016.

According to this article:

Its a fairly uncertain market however, so I'm unsure if we can read any real significance re the FL into the relatively small fluctuations

Maybe too early to tell?

Sells pretty good, they have sold more than 200k units in first half of the year. For last year they have sold 400k in total, meaning, more-less comparable to pre-FL. Maybe it can even be a slightly better as they've lost first part of year in transition phase.

Probably a bit skewed by the changes in road tax here in the UK. There was a big surge in sales before the new £140 rate came in.

Don't forget since last year there is a lot of negativity surrounding VW and especially diesels.

They are doing pretty well if figures are comparable with last year given the impact the emissions scandal could have had if you listen to how "outraged" everyone is.

Doesn't seem to stop people buying VAG or diesel...

I bet its had impact on diesel sales in London where they get a £10 surcharge threatened on the congestion charge ! Just a small threat of things to come.

Yes anyone ordering a petrol Octavia is seeing the impact of this, as they are apparently in short supply as folks flip back over from diesel.

I don't think it will have significantly impacted sales on its own. For anyone needing the space, the Octavia still makes a lot of sense to the point where I'm sure the headlight/front end look can be ignored.

Having seen a few VRS' now in person I don't even think it's as bad as first feared. Still prefer my Pre-facelift though ;)
