Rear window heater not working - need some help

Featured Replies

Hi all,

So its been the first frosty morning since I have owned my Octavia.  Now I have found out that my rear window heater is not working :(

I have been doing a bit of research this morning and it seems to be quite a common fault.  I have had a leaky rear washer jet so I am wondering whether that has killed something.

However, I wanted to start with the easy stuff...

I just checked the fuse box and (presuming I read the card correctly) the fuse looks to be fine.  I believe it is the white 25A fuse circled in the attached image.

(side note - does anyone know why one 25A fuse is white and one is clear/brown?)

The next thing I believe I need to check is the relay.  I understand that I should hear it click when I press the rear heater button.  I am not hearing any clicking, but I am not sure where the relay is located.  Is the relay located under the bonnet?  In which case I will probably need someone to help me as I cannot hear it from inside the car without the engine running.

Any advice appreciated!

Looks like you have the correct fuse.

There are some relays above the drivers feet I believe and some under the bonnet, not sure which is the heated screen one.

Thank you.

Im really struggling to find information on the relay.  I have had a look under the drivers feet but cannot see any relays, but I am sure that when I switch on the rear wiper, I hear the clicking coming from this area so must be missing something.

If anyone can point me in the direction of how I access the relays under/around the dash and in particular the heated rear window relay it would be appreciated.
