Diagnostic tool

Featured Replies

I am looking for a diagnostic tool for use with my Skoda Fabia vrs 1, Octavia 3 and other manufacturers (Land Rover Disco 4, Peugeot, Jaguar)

VCDS / Gendan have been recommended previously.

I've come across Foxsat (£450) which offer diagnostics, Electronic Park Brake model retraction (for land rover), but I was looking for an ABS mode for when bleeding brakes for all models. This does not offer it. Also, the Foxsat offers DPF forced regen.

Any suggestions?

Diagnostics, EPB are a must. ABS and DPF are desirable. Why would I need DPF forced regeneration anyway?

Thanks,

@bmbmdmb - You don't say what you'll use the software for, but you can download VCDS and use it as a diagnostic for free although you'll need a cable.

DPF regen is only necessary when working on vehicles with DPF anyway.

Tool will be used for:

Fabia 1 - diagnostics, assist brake bleeding ie abs unit.

Octavia 3 - as above but dpf.

Land Rover Discovery 4 - all above, but also EPB and oil reset function.

Since having posted I have discovered other work around on the discovery 4 involving ignition on, bonnet open, drivers door open and pressing brake pedal 3 x and holding then pulling up on EPB and holding for 10s. This resets the EPB .

Oil reset is achieved via switching ignition on, holding brake and accelerator pedal for 10s.

The above is called pedal test on a Vauxhall and gives fault codes on odometer .

Basically I´m looking for an all in one electronic tool that can be used on less than 10 cars, not for garage use.

Does this exist without spending four figures or, do i need to buy a manufacturer specific tool like gendan for VAG and another manufacturer specific tool for land rover  ?

You'll find that most of us here use VCDS almost exclusively, it is so massively superior to generic code readers and only costs $99 to unlock. No idea about Landys, you'll have to ask on a different forum for Disco owners.
