Delivery times

If not being registered until September it will have been delayed by the brand new WLTP emissions etc. testing regime required for all new cars as from September. Any cars delivered before September but not registered by 1st September will have to be SCRAPPED by the dealer if haven't passed these new tests.

I've just been advised by my dealer that my Karoq SE L 2.0 TDI 4x4 manual (petrol blue) that I ordered in late May is now 'en route'.  I take that to mean it's left the factory but is probably still on mainland Europe.  I'm trading in my much-loved Yeti (number 3) and was originally anticipating doing the changeover in early September just before the MOT and service date of 11th Sep to avoid unnecessary costs.  Obviously I also expected a '68' plate to go with the Sep registration but I'm now presented with the likelihood of having to take an '18' plate.  Do members consider the balance of advantage would be to take the new vehicle before September, thus avoiding any potential WLTP hassles, or would you hold off and ask the dealer to store the vehicle for possibly 5 or 6 weeks prior to registration in September?

TEDS, Unless your options included Alcantara upholstery upgrade, or the vario-flex rear seats (both in short supply), your's shouldn't have been so badly affected. If not being registered until September it will have been delayed by the brand new WLTP emissions etc. testing regime required for all new cars as from September. Not quite correct. WLTP will apply to all new car registrations from Sept 2018 (those already build and approved under WLTP), but EU measures for "end of series" cars (those already build but approved under the old NEDC test) to allow for a limited number (not specified) of unsold vehicles in stock to be sold until Sept 2019. So don't expect a fire sale of stock.

From "Honest John" (Telegraph and on-line motoring expert and journalist) It would be illegal and actually impossible to register a non-EU6d TEMP / WLTP after 31 August. Worst still, if you attempted and failed the car would have to be crushed, so essential to get a non-EU6d TEMP / WLTP registered on or before 31 August.

This was also confirmed today by our dealer. So best to have full and frank discussion with your dealer to make sure you don't end up throwing the baby out with the bath water.  They wouldn't want the bad press of misadvising you, or losing the goodwill of a customer.

Regretfully cancelled my order yesterday, so there’s a candy white 1.0 SEL standard car at Simpson’s Skoda Preston if anyone is interested.

Picked my 1.0 TSI SEL DSG Emerald Green with options today, 9 weeks from order to dealer, 10 weeks today as couldn't get there last week, loving the colour, subtle changes in the light, my Yeti was Petrol Blue Metallic which I loved but fancied a change

Looks the bizz ! Well done for getting your car in just 10 weeks - mine's been in Emden for nearly three !!

I am so near yet so far. Was told by dealer last week that my car would be delivered to them today, and have collection booked for 11am Thursday. Surprise surprise the car is still at Grimsby, Skoda UK said it's still waiting scheduling of transporter! Talk about mixed messages.

17 weeks and counting

Stunning spec don_kiddik! That green colour is lovely with those alloys and chrome around the window!

We will be ordering 1.5 Se.L in that lovely colour in the next week or so! Were the mud flaps one of your extras?

It's looking like I'll be forced to choose another manufacture this time as the lead time is 20 to 24 weeks for a Karoq now. Just had that confirmed by Skoda customer services. With my lease expiring on October.

My 1.5.SEL DSG is 19 weeks now since ordering with no idea of a build date so I would have thought 20 weeks was extremely optimistic !

You can still buy a pre-reg car or slightly used one and save a grand or two.

If you want factory order then you better hurry up and speak to other car manufacturers because some of them are quoting at least 12 week waiting time for popular petrol models.

Our dealer said he'd been quoted 47 weeks for new build ordered now if requiring factory build.

It's on the boat !! My dealership phoned early doors this morning to inform me my Karoq Edition is "on the boat" ! Ordered 17th April, just two options (spare wheel & auto lights assist), and 14 weeks later it has set sail. My target is 30/31st July, so reckon two weeks time (31st) is well within the time frame for transporter trip  to Mitchell's and their PDI to have all been completed. I've arranged "Preferential Termination" for my current car , an Octy3 SEL 1.6 Tdi, which no doubt Mitchell's will put up for sale - you'll be getting a good 'un if you buy it !

I hope yours is not sat at Port of entry as long as mine is. Arrived Grimsby 6th July, 11 days later still sat there, despite a 5 day SLA with Transport Company. So frustrating, as Dealer is telling me they have no leverage in getting it moved despite original delivery date to dealership of 16th, that never happened.

That's a long time to be stuck in Grimsby, Dunks - I'm hoping there might be a few more ordered from the North West to justify filling a transporter with the required number (12 ?) to facilitate a trip across the Pennines ! Good luck with getting yours, despite our "waits", I'm certain it'll be worth it.

Hi @Sockman

I got the mud flaps, rubber floor mats, rubber boot liner, rear bumper protector, Full tank of fuel and Lifeshine as dealer extras (haggled the life out of them), oh and also getting door sill protectors fitted this weekend!

My 1.5 TSI 150 SE L finally arrived today after ordering on 13th February to ensure I wouldn't be without a car when my existing lease ended on 25th June; some hope!  They even managed to **** up the delivery.  Last week they offered to deliver today and asked whether I preferred am or pm; I asked for am and they confirmed by email.  The driver would ring 1 hour before to let me know he was on his way.  1250, no car, no phone call, no explanation; another epic fail.  Rang VWFS and they feigned surprise and horror.  Dealer then rang to say they were arranging for one of their maintenance staff to deliver immediately; it arrived 40 minutes later.  While he was going through the car with me, he found that the Sat Nav SD card was missing; John Cleese couldn't write this script.  Card now in the post!  Don't hold your breath.

I am already in the midst of a customer service complaint over the late delivery and so far they offered me £250 in vouchers, before today's little episode.  I have asked for a Service Plan for the 3 years free of charge and they are thinking on it.  I might now ask for the vouchers as well.

Alongside this VWFs deducted two sums from my bank account last week without submitting an invoice, for the wear and tear and excess mileage on the previous car.  The first deduction included an overcharge of £116.83 for a tyre which I had replaced and had an email from them acknowledging this and waiving the charge.

By the way, the car is fantastic.

For those still waiting, there is an old Persian proverb which is sums up the whole episode for me;  "Patience is bitter, but the fruit is sweet.

My car finally due to be delivered Monday 23/7   100% guaranteed maybe . No apologies for delays .

Going to order my new car next week to try and guarantee delivery for 3 years time.

Does your dealer give you any updates? I ordered late May and salesman initially estimated a delivery end of Sept. But not hearing anything at the moment. Judging how long you've been waiting, I think end of Sept for me is mission impossible!

Have you been given a build date yet?

Got an email on 11th June telling me week 34 - 13th Aug. Haven't had a further update since.

No I get a call from Skoda weekly telling me they are still going through the outstanding orders and converting them manually from the 2018 spec to the 2019 model year that will be built from August. I don't believe any of it. They can't even tell me what the spec of my car will actually be! What really upsets me is the number of cars of my specification that have been delivered already but were ordered after mine. No one can explain this.
