Hey guys, tried to hard wire my dash cam last night and used fuse 41 which in the 2000 mk1 is down as the front window wiper so it should be ignition hot. Problem is when I turn the car off the camera stays on. I have set the auto power off to 1 min but it still stays on but If I unplug the lead the camera foes off after a second. Does some power still go to the camera even when the keys are removed?

As you have shown, fuse 41 has a permanent 12V feed. 

use the rear wiper fuse, thats switched live

Bugger. Rear wiper is a mini fuse and I've lost the mini fuse piggy back adapter. Any idea if any of the full size fuses are ignition hot.

Buy another adaptor if needs be, I'm sure it will be a couple quid at the most.

I used fuse 68, the fan/blower motor. It's ignition switched as you need, its 25A, and if it blows the fuse you won't be left stranded. Just hot/cold until you can replace it

Well I'll go to the foot of my stairs. 70years old and I have just heard about a fuse adapter. Every days a schoolday!

Welcome information. However, advice appreciated on routing cable from 2007 Fabia fuse box to dashcam.

Appreciate running it above windscreen and down A pillar, but any ideas about the next bit to the fuse box.

Beaten to it- my choice for a switched feed would have been the heater blower feed. Tap into the 25A feed and add a lower value fuse in line ( something like .5A/1A would be more than adequate) , my  dash cam is fused at  .5A . BUT, watch out. Some dash cams rely on the internal battery to feed them and keep clock on track. Mine will shut down on ignition switch off, but with that the clock will start to go funny as the battery drains. The only way I can keep clock on time is to  power down the camera when I stop. But think on ,if you want camera to shut down when you park the car. Few years ago, I was parked in a Supermarket store. I'd returned to firms van with my health option salad pack and was eating it ,when I felt the Transit rock. I'd been hit by an old granny- a geriatric hit & run merchant. Fortunately I'd suffered no damage, but th old lady either knew and got away fast or hadn't known she'd hit my van. Dash cam footage would have been nice , hence my mention of not turning it off in car parks .Sadly for gran, I'd got her reg no and appearing in the car park was a police car where the occupants loved the report.
