1.4 tsi was end of life. 1.5 tsi is new. Its a VW tradition to push the boundaries of "not quite right-ness" when launching a new design, they finally iron out most problems after 4 or 5 years and then drop it.

Probably because the EU shifted the goal posts again.:dull:

Moral: Don't be an early adopter, or face the consequences. :fubar:

Another Xman "thought of the day"......:emo:

If the 1.5 tsi is like similar to the 1.4 tsi, then the DSG versions have a DMF whereas manual version do not.

That might explain why DSG versions of the 1.5 tsi don't display the same level of kanga-rough-ness.

I've noticed that the 1.5tsi just released in the Superb range have a taken a £1905 rrp increase over the equivalent 1.4 tsi it replaces. Could it be they are now fitting them all with DMF?

Answers on a postcard please......:hi:

The 1.4tsi / tsi had to be discontinued because the WLTP and RDE were going to catch out the VW group.    And then as it is fitting GPF,s are still causing issues to 1.5tsi,s

So The 1.5tsi issues will need resolved as those engined are essential for VW group and hybrids.   no idea where the idea comes from that Skoda developed the engines or the software.

I’m ok with WLTP and RDE but could you enlighten me on GPF please? Thanks.

Gasoline particulate filter.  Now on the MY19 petrols.  Well gasoline engines

...just another thing we hope VW have done properly.

Thanks. Thought it might be that.

dpf I’m familiar with having “Limped” to a Seat dealer with a Leon FR done years ago.

Bear in mind that the 1.5 TSI runs in Miller cycle (hence the rougher noise, especially in ACT mode) and in general is quite different from the 1.4 TSI. It has a lot of improvements in order to reduce tempertures in the cylinders and every part of the engine. So that to achieve better fuel consumption and overall performance-emissions.

Engine management and 'improvements' to get through testing Is not improvement in drivability and satisfaction,  so VW are obviously going to have to 'think on'   Vorsprung Durch Technik aka if you Co-ck up sort it out.

Apparently there’s a fix and it’s all going to be all ok .............................on the mk2

Only the 96 kW version of 1.5 TSI engine runs in the Miller cycle the 110 kW one btw which one is in Karoq runs in "conventional" otto cycle (as well as 1.4 TSI) and ACT feature was present in 1.4 TSI too so  there is no difference between this two engines regarding this two features.

I've saw a lot of reviews regarding the 1.5 TSI (Karoq or Golf) and there was not any complains about the engine but there was mostly good experience from the reviewers so I assume that there is issue rather with software/mapping than with the construction of the engine and I susspect that the engines for review had different software/mapping set that the ones what was for sale.

So I think that it is more promissing that if it would be issue with the engine construction but as already someone mentioned here that to change the software will not be so easy too because the change should not excced limits of emissions defined e.g. by WLTP.

excuse my ENG as it is not my native language.

e.g. here is one of the reviews in ENG language without any complain about the engine neither when it runs in ACT mode:

Thomas and other reviewers are driving Media cars, the early ones, running what ever fuel the Media team fill with and tyre pressures as they are handed over.

Left hand drive cars always.

Auto Car / What Car will even make a car 'Car of the Year' and having never driven a Right Hand Drive one in the UK on 95 ron unleaded and a 'Showroom Car' or final production ready as 'Customers get'.

Thomas will mention 'Virtual Pedal' rear opening issues, Noisy Steering etc and VW Group / Skoda still ignore those issues Pre- Production and Post - Production.

Skoda have built cars for years where the Fuel Filler Freezes closed, or Doors Seals Leak, or Hatch Seals & even freeze closed.

They do not listen, they can test all they like and yet sometimes they still turn out cars with Fundamental Design or manufacturing faults.

Even with the face lift, the mk2 then the face lift, then the mk3, and then the face lift.

Vorsprung Durch Technik must never get translated to Czech.

I have final confirmation that jaroT is correct. 150ps version of the 1.5tsi does not run in Miller mode. So that blows my initial hypothesis out the water!

My 2018 1.4 TSI 150PS manual Kodiaq isn't especially smooth when in Eco mode (i.e. when running on less than 4 cylinders).

It sounds, and feels through the pedals, like it's misfiring, which I guess it actually is!

Doesn't sound correct, I have had the 1.4 TSI ACT engine in my last 2 cars, LeonFR and current Tiguan,I don't notice in both cars the change to 2 cylinder mode so if your car feels like it's misfiring I would think it's a problem. One thing that may make a difference is that I only use Tesco Momentum 99 octane fuel and the engine at standstill is so quiet you can't hear it when sitting in the car.

In my opinion the 1.4 ACT engine in 150PS variant is the best engine that I have ever had in a car in over 50 years of car ownership.

If you can't hear the engine running that's because the stop/start has probably switched it off. LOL.:notme:

I guess some of us may be more or less sensitive to changes in engine noise, feel and driving dynamics etc.

I know instantly when it drops into Eco mode, without looking at the dash display.

My wife however, barely knows when to change gear.

Is your car the 1.5Tsi manual such as ours. Sorry to hear you've had so many issues. Our car has done 9,500 miles since January and only the 1st gear hiccups spoils the driving experience. We hope there will be a fix by the time the first service is due in around 9 months time.

Its official from Skoda that the noisy engine and the kangarooing is normal for this car, and that are looking at an update sometime in the future, ( or how long is a piece of string). You all need to keep on at your dealerships.

Very economic with the truth way of saying these engines and gearbox’s  we have produced for these vehicles have a problem that we don’t know how to fix and we’ve run out of excuses to fob you off any longer.
