Always remember If their lips move they’re lying!

Now that Watchdog is now back on everyone affected should contact them and perhaps they will do a piece like they did on the Fiat 500.

Service Manager at my dealership told me that Skoda are aware of the problem and that a fix is being developed. Didn’t know though when it would be available.

My car is financed and I went back to the finance company which happens to be Skoda Finance to get my car taken back. Amongst other issues their findings after talking to Skoda and my dealers ship is Quote “ The kangarooing engine and noises you reported have been deemed as a characteristic of the KAROQ. The manufacturer is entitled to release enhancements to improve the performance of their products, which Skoda will be doing in the future, so we recommend loading with your dealership fir these updates”

so so they have spoken to Skoda tech and this is the reply. Straight from the horses mouth. You notice it stated characteristics of the KAROQ, no other model just the KAROQ

I’m up for that if they don’t sort it.

They’re clearly admitting knowledge then but are just calling it a “characteristic” not a fault.

Skoda speak for same thing.

If they called it a fault then they would have to do something straight away and gave a recall. They have said that buying saying it’s a characteristic then to me that us saying it’s ok as they all do it then we can get away without a recall which would cost them lots of money.

if it is a characteristic then why didn’t we get told when buying the car by the dealerships. Reason because they would not sell any

If it is a characteristic, then why is there a fix being developed?

It doesn't make sense. It is pure bullshi**ing by formal lips.

It is sad. It is definitely not a characteristic, since in my case, it was not present when i bought the car but it only appeared after an ECU update.

I believe there will be a fix though that hopefully will not have a counter effect.

Someone mentioned WLTP would be a reason to slow things down but it is not, because our cars are pre-WLTP productions thus any update simply does not have to comply with WLTP.

I have been told by my dealer that VW Group recognise the problem with the 1.5 engine in 1st gear and are developing a solution.

The solution will have to go through WLTP testing because it applies to all models, both pre WLTP approval and post.  They will not just issue a fix for early cars.  Under WLTP rules every model that has the 1.5 engine will have to be tested with the new ECU software.  Hence this will take time.

I still don't get it. The maping o f pre-WLTP models is by definition different from the WLTP ones. Why should we have the same softwrare?

That will be a huge down-grade to our performance, propably. It just gets worst and worst

So some say PROBLEM some say CHARACTARISTIC who can you believe, start to really worry when they say FIX

It’s simple a characteristic means they can hide behind a know fault. If they say fault then they are admitting they screwed up in development and that leads them to have do something and rhat could cost

lots of money.

We are driving computers not cars. Luckily my 5 year old Roomster has had no engine problems and never missed a beat from new. Perhaps its got SU carbs and contact breakers

It's just a play on words. Fault, problem, characteristic. They all amount to the same thing. We've just got to keep the pressure on. At the end of the day it is simply unacceptable that a new car lurches out of junctions. It IS potentially dangerous and we should play on it.

I'm currently going along with a request by my Service Manager to run on Shell V Power in ECO mode as they've found it eliminates the "problem"

Hey guess what???????  It hasn't!!!

I figured it was better to go along with the request as then they can't say I haven't  tried it. Only cost me another £10 to fill up as well. Hahaha!!!!

I quite like the idea of going to the media if we don't achieve success. Should go down quite well on the back of diesel emissions gate. It's sad, all we want is a car that does NOT lurch away like an antipodian marsupial.

Spelling error

Tesco Momentum 99 (99 ron Minimum) costs 5 pence a litre more than 95 octane Tesco Petrol and the same or less than some others 95 Unleaded.

Sainsbury's 97 ron Super Unleaded about the same price. Or COSTCO Super Unleaded 99.

So about £2.25 - £2.50 a tank more than 95 ron. or maybe no more expensive.

?

Why would a Dealership Recommend Shell V-Power Nitro + 99 ron Minimum at about another £2.50 more a tank fill.

If that is what is needed Skoda / VW will need to issue 'Fuel Cards'.  Give people the free fuels to the amount of extra money they are supposed to spend running a lemon.

They will need to make Gesture payments to owners until they sort out the extra annual running costs as with Oil Users where they covered the extra cost of oil

until the 'Sorted out their sh!t'.

Are they dismissing the other Super Unleaded available from Sainsbury, BP, GULF, ESSO, Texaco which are 97 ron minimum in the UK.

Now that vw/Skoda are acknowledging a problem with the kangerooing in first gear and are working on a fix will they update every 1.5tsi karoq ECU when they go in for a service without asking the owner because I do not appear to have issue or maybe certain driving styles eliminate the effect. I for one do not want an update because it may cause the kangarooing like it has to one of the followers of this forum.

When you put a Vehicle into a Main Dealership and sign as you hand over the keys you give permission for Software Updates or Enhancements so always ask.

They should then offer to ask you if you want doing.

(The emissions fix is different, that requires permission giving and almost giving rights to enter the Lottery, will they wreck my car?)

As to TPI's, Service Campaign, Skoda Secret Service Campaigns, Recall Actions or actual 'RECALLS'  You should be told, before and after and why and what for.

This VIN checker is not fit for purpose, but then it is a Skoda one so no surprise there.

As you would expect, my dealer was not a fan of any supermarket fuel.

Ive been using Tesco fuel for the last 25 years without any problem at all but I just wanted to go along with what they said so they couldn't say I hadn't tried it.

^^^?

Who do you speak to at your Dealership?  Job title?     Qualifications in Mechanical Engineering or the Fuel Industry or Fuel Retailing!

?

Does that Dealership put the fuel in for new cars, used cars and Demonstrators etc at Shell (Royal Dutch Shell) filling stations or others that they recon are not Supermarket Filling stations exclusively?

They will no doubt recommend Castrol or Quantum are the best oils to use

even though other Manufacturers with less Engine Failures in or out of warranty globally recommend Oil from other Oil Producers.

They will recommend NGK Spark Plugs,  Continental, Dunlop, Pirelli or what ever tyres that VW are fitting and if the car 'Pulls to the left',

will blame the tyres from Dunlop, Continental or whoever while VW still fit those at the factory,

just maybe not getting the 'Alignment' at the factory correct for the UK or other countries with right hand drive cars.

(PS,  then they will send out new cars with someone forgetting to set the pressures safely after the car being delivered and through a PDI.)

btw, what type of the gearbox do you have, automatic or manual?

Plus when is your car built/ baought?

Skoda obviously missed a trick when they named their Yeti "replacement".

They should have continued the theme with naming after animals! Fictitious or not!

They could however call their upcoming small SUV a Skoda Wallaby!

Ok, I'll get my coat!
