Sorry, I was thinking 'rejection' in terms of hand car/keys back, get money back, walk away.  I think your arrangement is quite similar to mine, though I have handed the Karoq back until a fix is found and I will take the car back provided that the fix is successful. As I read it, you will only accept a completely fresh car. I have been given a new Karoq Scout 2L diesel 4x4 to be going on with.

My dealer has been decent throughout and during the past 3 weeks or so, Skoda UK has been exceptionally cooperative. During December/January, Skoda UK frustrated me with the old 'characteristic' story - but it seems that something changed quite quickly around early February ....... I wonder what prompted that change.

I believe that Skoda/VWG is still selling cars with the 1.5 petrol engine - and, that, I cannot understand.

That's right.

I've gone for a 2.0 tdi sel manual.

Fingers crossed it's pukka.

Can assure you the new golf 1.5tsi has exactly the same problem (have been lurking here as this seems the best place for updates on the issue) it very much affects my car (nov 2018) and ive been given the same acknowledgement from vw the problem exists after they had my car in, and that a fix is due q2. I haven't taken it any further yet but am evaluating options, my car is leased from vwfs

Might be wise to reject before it is 6 mths old but give them an opportunity to fix it before they take it back.

I'm talking about the soon to be released Mark 8.

Xman - is it this version that was misreported on or the current latest version?

If you can provide the link it would help, I'm not in the mood to search 68 pages. I'm relying on memory, but I was definitely looking out for that "new engine" only to be disappointed it was just some old PR material rehashed.

No need to talk about a sometime to be revealed VW Golf Mk8.

There is a soon to be available Skoda Scala 1.5TSI and later in 2019 Skoda Kamiq 1.5TSI.

Skoda / VW have little time to sort out 1.5TSI EVO engines if not already done.

Auto Express Issue 1563 Page 16. Describing the MK8 Golf they state "with the addition of a new 1,5litre four cylinder turbo petrol". If it was the same as the mk7.5 version in the current Golf then why call it new.:nerd:

Its a journo's typo

The corrected script from 8th March 2019 Auto express

Quote

The new Golf Mk8 will get a range of 12V mild-hybrid engines for the entry-level and mid-range variants. The 1.5-litre TSI ACT petrol unit will be carried over from today’s Golf Mk7 but this will be joined by a 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol motor and an all-new 1.5-litre diesel, which is also likely to be sold as a 12V mild hybrid

Note: They will be mild hybrid configured. There will be a significantly large motor that is used both for stop/start and engine assist/regen. So would be able to cover up any slow speed hestitation.

Tomorrow’s possible news headline:

”VW Chief Executive attempts to take focus off 1.5 tsi kangaroos with new (old!) company slogan!”

Perhaps he should "focus" on a new career at Ford.:tongueout:

Or maybe lock himself in the bog and work on a big Hummer. Someone from Ford could insert a Probe while he is at it.  :smirk:

The mild hybrid version of the 1.5 tsi was advertised ages ago on the golf but never came. The 150 ps version was released first.

The mild hybrid one is of 130 ps and runs on miller cycle with variable turbo charger! There was quit a mix up with those two engines by the journalists.

At the beggining many of us thought that the 150 ps version run on miller cycle and hense the kangaroo problem. But that was not true.

They as in the VW Boss announced that new hybrids were coming just this week.

Which is the answer to the issues with the 1.5TSI's.

The Kia Niro 1.6 hybrid starts of on battery power.   The answer that Skoda/ VW needs.

They just needed to ask advice from the best car builders in the Czech Republic, Hyundai.

VW Have all the tools in the box to offer.  Just not enough tools to sort out their past fails.

Vorsprung Durch Technik.

If you can not build simple and reliable petrol's and diesel's what will you be like with Electrics.

Not having to have gearboxes will be their saviour.

Are there reports of the 130 PS kangarooing as well?

My 130ps 1,5 tsi kangaroos, been acknowledged by vw as well

I received a text today telling me that there is no update regarding the site are fix and they contact me in a month, that means they’ll have my car at least 10 weeks by then, I’m now going to try and reject the car, it’s utterly ridiculous.

For me, the hire car is okay but being a 4x4 Tiguan it will be costing considerably more in income tax per month :-( Skoda should compensate me for this really

They certainly should.

If out of pocket then VW Group / VW UK / Skoda UK should be providing a fuel card with the 'Loaner car'.

Good enough for 'Sales Promotions' so good enough for compensating when the Faults are down to VW Group and attempts at manipulating Tests to get VED Bands, Emissions BIK etc.

Plenty for Chris Grayling MP, DfT / HMRC to think about there.  Were VW Group at it Pre & post WLTP?

Unfortunately Failing Grayling is possibly  the most likely individual to make a bad situation worse.

just done the calculations :o the 4WD plus high list price and diesel penalty will cost me an extra eye watering £141.66 per month in tax as a company car :o

BIK for the Tiguan is £10,492 v the Karoq @ £5,768 : exactly why I went for the Karoq in the first place as it seemed like a decent company car choice.

I spoke my dealer (in Hungary).
He said that there will be a SW update on summer.
I haven't got more information.

Ahh....now it’s the summer. Before that it was end of 2nd quarter, before that early second quarter and before that it was before end of March.

They are making it up as they go.

Standard Proceedure for VAG.
