Why would it be applied AFTER it was withdrawn?

Because Skoda haven't got a clue what they are doing?

I wish all of you who are holding out for the 'fix' the best of luck and hope it cures the issues once and for all.

I on the other hand was not.

I took the decision to reject the car back in January (just less than 6 months ownership).

I wasn't prepared to take the risk of driving my family around in it anymore, nor was I prepared to hold out for the TPI which may or may not solve the issues.

The vehicle registration of the rejected vehicle is DC18MVL, although I haven't seen it listed for sale as of yet, maybe it will be the dealers guinea pig to test the update out before selling on.

I will continue to watch this thread with intereset hoping it works out for you all.

If it doesn't and anyone would like more information or advice on rejecting their vehicle please feel free to pm me.

All the best!

Can you advise me who you went through for rejection? I was told by Skoda Uk that the final day would be with the dealership, that doesn’t sound right to me.

If your car was purchased on finance then it is the finanance company you need to deal with.

i.e. Solutions PCP with VW Financial Services then you need deal with them solely.

I would strongly advise to contact them through email as it is quicker and to keep an audit trail.

Thank you for that, I’ve already been in touch with the finance dept and they totally understood my situation. They said they’d speak to Skoda Uk and the dealer, Skoda Uk then phoned me really flapping about rejection and suggested going in to the dealer to try and sort something to keep me as a customer and they would fill them in, that was 2 weeks ago and I’ve heard nothing, it’s farcical, I’m back in touch the the finance company now and we’ll see how we go.

Good luck and if you want to reject then stay strong.

Once my complaint was upheld I had to arrange the return with my dealer, apart from that it was all through vwfs and them only.

Any further questions feel free to pm me.

Mine is a leased Company Car and the lease company 'Lex' are totally unhelpful, the issue is they need to reject the car not me.

They have come back asking from evidence from RRG that the car has a fault and not a characteristic :@

I replied:

Hi,

I suggest you speak to Skoda UK who have confined the vehicle to the dealership until a fix can be found. Many of the vehicles have been successfully rejected now.

If the vehicle was safe why would Skoda have taken it and a number of others off the road? And provide me with a Hire car at their cost.

Kind regards,

Markyj - I also successfully rejected through finance company. You need to email and let them know you are formally rejecting the car and reasons. Quote Consumer Rights Act - car is of unsatisfactory quality and not fit for purpose (doesn't drive/behave in a manner a normal user would expect a car to behave) and dealer unable to resolve issues. They can take up to 8 weeks to make decision. You do not need to deal or talk to anyone else during this process. Your contract is solely with the Finance Company and they are the ones that reject the car. Which Legal Services gave invaluable guidance. VW Finance have accepted rejections of numerous Karoqs at this stage so will not be able to refuse yours. Reject and break free from the nonsense - Good luck!

I started this thread just over a year ago and finally it looks like a software update is starting to be installed and having a positive effect. My car is in for its 1st service on Friday (12th April) so hopefully the update will be installed. I'll update the thread when it's done. Has anyone else had the update? Has it worked? I saw another thread where it looks like it has.

Could you give more information of where did you get this info?

The last update here is that a fix was "released" (!?) and withdrawn right after.

Is this a new fix available? And where did you get reports that it works?

What update??

A few of us have had the 'update'. See this thread:

I’ve just taken delivery of a Karoq 1.5l SEL manual (8 miles on clock) and have driven it 10 miles. No kangarooing noticed. In 2nd there isn’t much power if you’re slowing to e.g. turn, but I can’t tell if that’s an issue or just because I’ve come from a more forgiving 1.2 TSI which you’d literally have to work hard to stall.

I feel so relieved as I couldn’t imagine being satisfied by a car that lurches and jumps in first gear. I would think that since it was at the dealers the last week, it would have the most recent software on it.

Glad that your new car is performing as it should. Pretty damning though that your previous 1.2 has better low speed characteristics than the 1.5 as you would expect it to be the other way round. This is why I wanted go for a 1.5 as a minimum.

Seems strange though that the 1.0 seems to perform OK despite its smaller capacity and having to meet the same regulations.

I shall leave it a few months or until sure that the problems with the 1.5 have been rectified and have a test drive in a DSG. If it doesn't perform satisfactorily though it will be off the list. Coming from a diesel and having a 2.0 TSI I want some semblance of performance!

This information is valid only for Octavia, where previous TPI 2050744/7 did not distinguish between ECU used at cars and software versions. No latest update for Octavia so far.

Current TPI 2050744/8  has more details.

In short, for Superb, Karoq and Kodiaq are updates available, but only for versions with GPF/OPF,

nothing for cars without filters on exhausts (PR-code 7MV - Emission standard EU6 ZD/E/F ) or rare Karoq 4x4 with 1.5 TSI ...

Yeah, JakeB1941 has Karoq registered in October 2018, so engine ECU surely 05E906018R and therefore latest update for 05E906018R version 7421 could be applied.

All, who has Karoq manufactured before 30.7.2018, so without OPF filter and with engine ECU 05E906018P, must wait if VAG=Skoda will release any update for it, so it is very likely the case of Janner74 too and no good news for him waiting on this Friday

Mine was manufactured in January 2018. Is the update not available for cars built that early?

As already mentioned above, not at the moment, no update curing the kangaroo, jerkiness etc. of any 1.5 TSI at Superb, Karoq and Kodiaq manufactured before 30.7.2018 available now,

for Octavia nothing at all even for cars manufactured after 30.7.2018 ...

When any new software update comes, Skoda will update TPI 2050744, so its version _______/8 and later will be valid at the moment of the release.

Well I couldn't wait any longer and my nerves were finally shattered by a crawl in heavy traffic down a seven level multi storey car park so the kangaroo was released back into the wild and replaced by a 2.0 diesel some ten days ago - best thing ever, it drives like a normal car - I have to say that Skoda customer services and Carrs Skoda dealers have been, to quote another Skoda model, 'Superb'. The rejection took time as the car was on PCP, the case passed to a supervisor and dealer principal but we got there in the end and I've even had follow up calls to make sure I'm a happy chappie.

Jeremy - my vehicle is from Carrs Exeter - can I ask which branch you dealt with?

I dealt with the branch in Indian Queens.

I agree about the characteristics. I haven’t driven it much yet so I suppose the jury’s still out on it. It feels good to drive and what’s more jarring for me is the much higher driving position and that it’s height makes it feel less planted when cornering.

But like you say you’d expect an engine with greater displacement to have more power early on rather than (what feels to me anyway) less. I will definitely get used to it and I wouldn’t say it was dangerous from my very limited experience so far but then I haven’t yet been caught without power or any throttle response. And I hope that I never am because that would be scary.

So without sounding like a dope lol.

Is this an issue with just the manual or the DSG too?

I do notice on my car that if in first it well hesitate really badly and then loose all power until 2nd gear.

Wondered if anyone else had this issue or if there is a fix for the DSG too? (I have the 1.5tsi)
