Let us know how you get on with the range from fully charged please.

& could you ask the Sales Person how much to drive away in a new one at the lowest they can get it for Cash Money.

And if a factory order on that day when can delivery be expected.

Maybe there are ones in stock or in transit, or in a few months the Demonstrators will be available.

(could you ask how much that will be, the one they lent you?)

George,

So picked up the e Golf , set on Normal. 108 miles at the charged level .Journey home 24 miles running the regen braking system. Consumption 98 miles shown at switch-0ff Average consumption indicated 4.2 miles / KWh.

Drive home fairly smooth with a little bit of in town stop/start / crawl.

Really enjoyed the initial EV experience. Miss the engine note of the UPGTi, however I will have that fix tomorrow afternoon the handover of the New UP GTi .

When they're sub £13k, I'll be interested enough to read it.  Never spent more than £13k on a brand new car yet.   Sub 30k is just not relevant to average people in a country where the mean

  • More so want a estate or saloon with better aero and range getting more batteries in the floor plan.

George,

So return journey yesterday , a few degrees lower ambient temp, Gave a it a bit more wheelie, with swiftish overtaking and hill climbing. Result 24 miles at a starting charge level of 98 miles, completion at 79 miles charge with a consumption rate of 4.5 miles / KWh

Really enjoyed the experience, but tyre noise and wind not enough yet for me.

Liking the quirky new Honda to be production launched this year- looks a bit Fabia like.

I’m running an i3 and it’s bloody great, off the line 0-30/40mph is up there with my old Golf R, in fact more smiles tbh.

Everyone looks at you at the traffic lights thinking look at that t...t in his little plastic pensioners car...then as the lights change I’m already 20 yards up the road; the launch on it is great, can’t wait for the next affordable EV to come along.

The VW EV range looks interesting - with their entry EV being same price range as a diesel Golf.

Oh and since owning I have spent ZERO on electric as have a nice 50kw rapid charger down the road on free vend :) so apart from a bit of depreciation but having paid sub £22k for a 10k mile Nov 17 model, it should hold up fairly well, until the new EV’s start flooding in.

Glad and you enjoyed the e Golf but for me it’s just another Golf and a heavy one at 1650kg, the i3 looks different and weighs in around 1300kg, which makes a difference; the big issue I have with the i3 is it feels twitchy and tall with those skinny tyres but it holds on well.

Coming as an EV, no idea of price. But nobody knows how much cars in the UK will be after April or 2019.

Good pitch to go with a 50 kWh and relatively fast charging.

Range over 200 miles in all but the worst part of the weather.  Might steal some sales off the 40 kWh Leaf whose range if disapointing.

Hopefully a cost of less than £30K.  10% car duty in to the UK would be another chapter of self harm, let us hope that EU and UK can agree an import of 5% or even zero for EVs rather than the 10% for ICE cars.

Has the e-Golf still got the rubbishly small 32 kWh battery pack or have VW finally got it up to the 50-60 kWh that other manufacturers are either using or launching ?
